Why does this always happen?

Post by TD-Linux »

It looked on purpose, like all the other times. Why can't bzfraggers stay away from teammates with BU?

You should'a had a full-panel screenshot. I find those easier to look at. It really pisses me off when a n00b comes tanking along and crushes my burrowed machine. But, someone has to tell them that that's not what you're supposed to do.

well, i think if they're looking at the radar and they dont have the flags turned off on the radar, your burrowed tank looks like a flag. that's gotten me killed a couple of times going through fields of flags trying to find a good one. :D

^Yeah, that's something that needs to be foxed in a newer BZFlag version.

Who knows, though: It might just be that oh-so-frequent incedent when to players are both going for SR or BU. ;)

i have often been mowed down by my teammates when burrowed - it feels so awful when you look on the radar and your watching this guy cruising his carefree tank slowly into you, and your like "S***!!!!!!!", and you drop the flag, but he gets to you just in time :)

The Burrowed tank and a flag are easily distinguishable on radar, it just depends weather you look hard enough :).

^Yeah, I know. The shapes are to similar: the only difference is that the BU is larger.

It also depends what size of radar you got. If it's on 1 then you can tell a burrow tank, but if it's on 2 with lots of flags, you can't tell the difference apart.

That guy in the screenshot was driving straight toward that BU. When The BU turned, the tk'er also turned. :(

Good idea. And not just for the BU, but alsofor the person running toward the BU (at least if it's a teammate).

I always use radar when in BU, and avoid teammates. No need for being near teammates when you have BU, and wasteful too. You should be fairly far from the action to avoid being squashed by a tank.

Burrow can also help when you want to be in the action. Like in Viper's Castles... if you try to go through the opening in the middle you'll get slaughtered for sure, but if you have burrow you can get in there really easily.

Here's a makeshift "Proximity warning".

Hotkey Alt + F1 to say to your team, "Watch out I have burrow!". Hotkeys are a feature in BZFlag, weather anyone actually knows that or not.

I have ceased to remember that a HUD even exists on my tank. I only drive with radar. I do everything with radar, jump, dodge, shot, rico, everything.

My proximity warning was for those who do not use radar, and for the player who doesn't have burrow. An annoying alarm should go off should a teamate approach his burrowed teamate too close. wake them up and realize what they are doing.

Man that happened to me today, as well as me and a teammate mowing each other down when we both had wings while going for a rogue :(

I use a mix of both radar and HUD. Radar to locate enemies and get over there. HUD for the main fighting. During mid-fight I ususally use the radar if me and my opponent are jumping around, that way I can know where he landed.

And for servers that don't use radar (such as TB's Emerald Mosque)?
