Maybe a new way to create worlds....

Post by JimElite »

Well I think I may have found a new way to create worlds if you don't know how to already. I'm sorry if this has already been posted I'm pretty new to this site. The new thing is Unity 3D. Now some of you may be thinking "Oh my this is expensive!' Well it's not unity 3D has become free for a while. It is a great program. I have tested this out on Mars Explorer by Aubrey Falconer. Again I'm sorry if this has already been posted.

Unity 3d is a game engine in its self, not a tool for content creation. It is it's own editor and generally doesn't have any real export formats. It also does it's worlds in a rather different way, it's more of a terrain/BSP system then BZFlag's object/octree. There may be some ways to get data out of it as a mesh and into BZ but I would most likely be cumbersome and not make a great map.

As for using unity as a 3d engine, that would be different game then BZ as while it is free it is not open source.
