How do you become an admin on localhost?

Place for people to discuss public servers, and also for admins to lay out the details of their servers

When u run a solo game with robots on localhost how do you get the permission needed to set variables?

Set a server password and use /password to make yourself an admin.

...unless you're starting the server from the BZFlag client, in which case I have no idea.

in your config file/command line put the following:

-password "[password]"
or use the following your map file:

options
  -password "[password]"
end

are you running the server throught the game? meaning are you going to
join game->start server or are you running the server throught a command prompt?

i don't think you can. the start server thing is for really basic lan games. if you want server control you need to use bzfs.

the in game server start does not give all options. please read the manual and these forums on how to start a game from the command line using a config file. it will provide you will all options.

Thanks and where is the manual and what can you do with bzfs.

Also any links to the topic that has the guides?... i can search for it myself but it would take me a while...

Yeah, actually, I don't think BZFS will even let you do that for that reason.

Maybe I'm wrong, but...
Doesn't the in-game "Start Server" option use the bzfs.conf file in the "Data" folder as a server config file?

If it does, you could edit it with a -password yourpasshere option - right?

Or maybe I don't understand it correctly...
