Ok so I need some recorded voices for a new feature.
If anyone has ever wanted to be a voice actor then this is your chance.
Basicly record yourself saying the following phrases.
Movie trailer anouncer voices are a plus.
anoucements
"Rampage"
"Killing Spree"
"Unstoppable"
"Dominating"
"Excelent"
"Double Kill"
"Multikill"
"Monster Kill"
"Impresive"
CTF messages
"Get the flag"
"Get our flag"
"Get the Red flag"
"Get the Blue flag"
"Get the Green flag"
"Get the Purple flag"
"Red has our flag"
"Blue has our flag"
"Green has our flag"
"Purple has our flag"
Actions
"Roger that"
"I'm on it"
"I'll get the flag"
"I'll stay on defense"

doing a couple variaons on each one is also good, then it would add some randomness to the speach.

I got all of them done. Heres 2. I would also like to see and Owned taunt. Sorry for my lack of creativity . I cann make them sound like chipmunks

Hmm, Just wondering but aren't some of the lines under the "annoucnements" already in a deep voice on Unreal Tournament? Just wondering, if anyone plays DotA on Warcraft III they'll recognize those, my friend said that the voices originally came from UT though... not sure.
Just wondering, but would these make the game lag a little bit? And what if you had a really full server with a bunch of the voices going off at once? Just out of curiosity...

Yeah I'm using UT sounds to test. We can't legaly use them for real, but the idea is the same.
The sounds are not sent over the wire in realtime, it's just a message to play the sound that you have localy allready, so it will not add to game lag when someone plays them. THe message is very small. The message can even have the client play one of the standard sounds, like the flag capture sound.
The system will tell your client where to download the sounds from if you do not have them, and that will happen in the background as you play. If you are on like dialup, then it could flood your pipe. If you are on DSL you have extra downstream bandwith to spare so you should not notice it. The download is a one time only thing per sound.
Any user can disable the downloading and playing of remote sounds, by adding set _noRemoteFiles 1 and set _noRemoteSounds 1
to your config. noRemoteFiles is probably best for diaulup users. Unless they want to join as an observer once to get all the sound files before playing.
When a user joins, the plugin will send the client a list of all the posible sound files it may need. Then the client can go get them if they want to.
The same URL filter for textures is used for sounds. So the only sounds that will be downloaded by default must come from the bzflag.org or bzflag.bz domains. This should prevent anyone from sliping in inapropriate or vulgar sounds. If you wish to get sounds from somewhere else you will need to edit your URL masks.
As with images, we will be making a repository of sounds my.bzflag.org when it's all done.
If you do not have the file when the server asks you to play it, your client will just skip it. Same goes for older versions that don't know about the sounds. It's totaly optional.
