Turn off Chat

Is there any way to turn off chat, or at least keep it from appearing in the top window? I can toggle the console, radar, flags on field, or almost any other thing, but I can't find a way to toggle the chat. Most messages anyone types in nowadays are profane nonsense, and I have yet to find a message that actually helped.

P.s. how do you use the hunt key ("U")?

use /silence *, and that will silence everyone, essentially killing chat. Note that some people (admins in particular) view this as rather rude.

OK, puress 'u', then select with your arrows who you want to hunt, then press the fire button and you will be hunting them. Press 'u' again to kill the hunt. The hunted tank will flash on your radar and when you approach him your copmputer will make a hunting sound.

You can use shift-f1 to f4 to switch between the "tabs", which allows you to get rid of the chatting. (shift-f1 is all - which is default)
