The Abyss released

Post by Dutchrai »

The Abyss has been released, so it's time to take out your rusty scuba gear.

And use your eyes well, not forgetting to watch the skies when you're not diving. Afterall, the local weather forecast warned for a dangerous meteor shower in your area today.

Go get it from Shell Shock.

Theres one. It only shows about every 30 sec. I think. Go to the top of the map and wait for them to fall.

Glad you enjoy the weather guys. And if you prefer, I could enlarge the number of meteors.

Here are the details on this event from space:

The shower occures 30 seconds after you start the map, and after that, meteors will visit you in 90 second intervals. To watch the show, go to the top level and watch the pyramid sector (from a safe distance). If you prefer danger, go INTO the pyramid sector.

In the pyramid sector, there are three groups of 5 little black dots on your radar (enhanced radar only). These are the locations of where the meteors will hit. They will lite up 3.5 seconds before doing so. If your tank happens to be there...well, I hope you're insured.

Right now there are 15 meteors (3x5). I may want to employ them on a larger scale, just figured I'll try this first :-)

Anyone up for more? If so, I'll do a 1.1 version of The Abyss with a meteor overdose or something. Will restrict them to the pyramid sector however.

Secret: if you need shelter, there are two pyramids that are larger than the others. You can drive through them but bullets or meteors cannot penetrate those.

Oh...and the whole thing looks better at night with a bright moon and some stars :-)

Picture perfect.

Ok, doubled the number of meteorites after several requests. Now there are 30, in 3 groups of 10.
Also made a small change to a few boxes, now its easier to jump below the castle. The update map is available from Shell Shock.
