trouble telling what height the shot coming at you is.
Hi,
When i play on "Hix" map i like standing on the boxes but sometimes shot that come at me are shots i can't tell are in the air or ground shots resulting in me getting killed.
Any tips would be nice with this problem.

First off, don't camp.
Now, there is a setting that can help judge the shot height better. It's located in Options -> GUI Settings -> Colored shots on radar -> ON (it's the 8th setting from the top).
Home that helps.

How would this help determine the height of the shots?dexter wrote:First off, don't camp.

Aren't all shots rendered with an opacity level relative to your tank? In R3, with the zy-plane as the ground and z is up, the smaller the distance between the z value of your tank and the z value of the bullet, the more opaque the bullet is.
Re: trouble telling what height the shot coming at you is.
when a shot is coming at you you can tell the height that it is by looking at how faint or opaque it is so if its strong coloured then its more level with you and if its faint then its not.. hope this helps.
Re: trouble telling what height the shot coming at you is.
Uh, white shots are not rendered with the opacity level relative to my tank when I have the setting on. All shots, independent of my tanks height have the same opacity. For this reason I have colored shots turned on, only then can I determine what height they are at.Enigma wrote:How would this help determine the height of the shots?dexter wrote:First off, don't camp.

that's what I do so I don't try to dodge a shot that's above/below me, as well as super long shots for dodging, massive radar and some other things.

Yeah, one way is to turn colored shots on. Another way that i use most often is i see the person who shot the shot is at my height on the radar. You just see how big if the box around there tank is at your level or around on the radar.

When in doubt, check the HUD.

I've found that over time you "learn" when a shot may not hit you, so you don't have to dodge or jump to avoid the shot.

It shows the bullet itself.

Seems people are confused what a "HUD" is. The radar, scoreboard, and chat panel are all part of the Heads Up Display (HUD). The 3D view is not.

The 3D view is called "out the window" in most games I think. (You are looking out the one-way tank windshield I suppose- although technically you are looking right out of your cannon)
