1.7g1 - any "advantage" over older clients?

Soooo. Iron Foot is under the impression that 1.7g1 has some sort of advantage over 1.7g0 and presumably older clients. He states that cvs-released clients should not be used for public servers (of which I may have missed that statement somewhere concerning cvs) and only on private lans. Is there an...

I didn't keep track of the numbers either but I was in there for quite a few hours before Spiff showed up. I had in excess of 1000 lost packets. Is this number shown then in lagstats a total number of packets lost over the total time played? And I understand that is the second set of numbers display...

Those flipping Tree-hugging campers get to me all the time! (Cartman, what in the h*** are you talking about?) hehe, southpark fan here! OO's have been rather rampant on Turkey - and when 20 plus people get in there, good luck spawning. Either a gm locks onto you right away, or you spawn right where...

lost packets using 1.7g1

Iron Foot pointed out tonight on Turkey that it appears this version of bzflag is dropping alot of packets and thus causing problems for everybody else. Does anybody know why that is happening and what can be done about it? (besides the obvious answer of going back to 1.7g0) Has anybody else noticed...

stats.bzflag.org connection problems

what is going on with this web site? Over the past week, it appeared to be down, web site could not be found. Now, I am receiving an error message stating my connection to stats.bzflag.org was refused or permission denied. Did somebody hack into the sight again? Are they blocking certain IP's from c...

Jerky video prob FIXED

hehe, windows habit..I just rebooted my system. Must of been something funky with the NFS shares I set up. If anybody knows how to fix my rc.firewall problem though that would be great! Otherwise I think I will go find another GUI program to do it for me.

jerky video after configuring new firewall

Howdy all, This weekend I merged my firewall/router and my fileserver onto one computer, running MD 9.0 with the latest updates (as of this morning) and now when I play bz, the video is very jerky. The old setup for my firewall/router was using firestarter to config the firewall - how ever, I do not...

I never even desired to do such a thing. Heck, after playing with bots on the home server, I have no desire to use them anymore. They are nothing compared to the bots in Tribes2. Dunno why I mention T2, once I found bz I pretty much quit playing T2 :lol-old:

thanks to all who replied

I happened to be in Iron Foots server when he loaded up a bunch of bots so I was able to find out from him how to do it. It was sort of funny watching these bots... most of the time I couldn't even persuade them to move if I was near one of them. Another *bug*?? I found when starting bzflag with bot...

howto use or enable bots, is it possible

I have heard of and swear I have seen bots on public servers before, question is how do I enable them? This past weekend I installed bz on my daughters computer, and setup a home network bz server (no interest as of yet to go public with a server). I am running the kingcastle world so she can learn ...

ok, well ....

It works now! At least it works on my test system! And wouldn't you know it, all it took was the easiest one....rpm -ivh I remember having problems before on 1.7e6, so I just skipped the .rpm's and went straight for the source for 1.70g (what is up with the format change?) Any way, it is past my bed...

Still no go;

[root@file bin]# ./bzflag -directory ../data
bash: ./bzflag: No such file or directory

[root@file bin]# ls

cough cough, I guess computers don't always finish what they should have?
