Tank being stuck at an old Boxy War map

Post by GMMan »

Here's lukaskalo being stuck in a wall at a old Boxy map (Version 2.0, I call it). There must be some problem with the spawn zone or something, but it's just plain weird.

P. S. I grabbed this image from my hard drive from a Linspire Live CD. Hopefully it's the same quality.
I haven't touched BZFlag for years, but maybe sometime I'll make a comeback.

s*** happens sometimes, just hit the good ol' delete button and continue playing ;)
Could this tank perhaps go a little bit faster, so it's not being overtaken by stationary objects.

Hmm, perhaps contact a server owner? It might be a problem with their spawn zones. That is plain weird. I am happy for the self destruct button! :)

Well technically, the reason new versions of the map come out are generally to help game play AND fix problems like the one you found. So the fact that you found it on an OLD map shows that they had good reason for the new version :P...

The old map doesn't appear on the serverlist anymore. Looks like it was taken down after one day of service.

BTW I never had this problem on that server. Though I've had it at the World of Pain and that prison map.

The reason being I forbid anyone host Boxy War.

And that's quite weird. Sometimes I spawn sorta under the back wall, but a little movement will get you out. But up there? Wow, never seen that.

"You" can't forbid someone from running a map:

1: it isn't yours
2: BS has NOT stated that you are to be the sole hoster of the map.
3: try and stop someone.

1. It's hard to say that it's BS's map after all the changes - it's actually fun to play there now.
2. He doesn't need to, imho, see 1..
3. It's been done. ;)

Pffft. Anyway, somebody edited out my post, but I guess all I can say is if you get stuck like press your delete key (or your self destruct key).

Actually, nearly all the components of the map are free to host by anyone, as long as they do not claim to be BZFX, or affiliated in any way (unless they really are, of course). We had a problem with this, and that's why A Meteorite is so overprotective

Oh, is that so? I worked on it too, you know.

He has. He made it specifically for my server.
Win Xp wrote:3: try and stop someone.
That's easy, but I won't dive into the specifics of how.

So did I. I don't give a hoot about who hosts my maps.

But I do. ;) So that means I should be able to enforce who hosts Boxy War and who doesn't since you don't care what happens to your portion.

If we made a map and asked someone to host it, are we aloud to get the password?

It depends on what the server owner decides...

By the way, totally off topic, dude.
