Chillbox CTF

Before I go for a holiday I decided to get all the ice out of my fridge and make a map out of it. The map's called 'Chillbox' and rather obviously inspired by the famous Pillbox. No idea if it's playable or not, haven't tested it, it might be crap, even put my name to shame, but I put it up anyway:

shellshock.bzflag.bz:4504

Will be on holiday from June 12 to July 6...yeah! Please leave any feedback right here, I'll pick this little'o'project up again when I get back.

P.S.: Thanks to trepan, once again, for helping me out with some technical, yet crucial, details.

Who cares if it is playable... the screen shot is amazing. Do you work in graphics design?

WOAH! Nice work there. I hope that will be a playable field in the Pillbox League.

Yeah, that map looks really awesome. Not only does it look really awesome from a grapical standpoint, but I can imagine it playing really awesomely as well.

The idea started with a classic Pillbox layout. I also wanted to do a snow and ice themed map, and this is the result.

By the way, there will be no flags (except team flags of course), no jumping, all in true Pillbox style.

A few modifications have been made:

1) Added some protection near the bases

2) Attached metal bars to the ice tunnels. A small thing, but tactically, these bars can be very very interesting:
- they allow for 'kami kazi' (a.k.a. suicide) shots (try to discover this unique feature)
- they create a passage through the map center
- they prevent (useful) camping at the centre
- they force tanks to go around and meet up close

3) Increased tank speed by 30%

4) Some optimizations (technically and in file size)

Hey Dutchrai, you're a true map maker in my opinion! That's awesome! Can't wait to play it...

In that case, why wait? It's on a public server:

shellshock.bzflag.bz:4504 :lol-old:

P.S.: I updated the screenshot in the first post to reflect the latest changes.

I played on it a good bit ago. Way to go. It's awesome. :)

I wonder how it would be if you made it slide...

/set _friction and mess around with it :) snowy ice stuff.

That stuff ain't hard at all if you have a good development system...

I like the little boxes you have... can you see slightly through them? like so you could see tanks on the other side?

From the picture I would say it looks like an overall good map.

Still doesn't look like enough though...
