_wingsFlapDelay would be nice

Post by L4m3r »

...or something like that. Basically, a BZDB variable that would give a minimum time delay between wing flaps. This would limit their ascent speed without making flying a pain in the neck. I think this would also be one more thing to help level the playing field.

Also, it would probably be good to kill the delay when the tank lands on an object (say, when climbing a sloped surface).

well, shouldnt they be smart enough not to use all their wing jumps all at once? they should wait until they get the max. height they can recieve with the one wingjump berfore they move on with the next.

It's not so much an issue of height, it's more about speed. by flapping quickly, you can fly up out of range of just about anything, including a GM. limiting the time between flaps would make it harder to fly away like a weenie.

^^ this was a really necessary contribution, dvn.

I think it's a great idea. As much as i love wings, i think it is overpowered, and a variable like this would give flexibility for server owners to limit that. prehaps there should be a little re-load style counter somewhere on the HUD? or a little seconds counter that counts down? and of course if an owner set _wingsFlapDelay to 0, effectively giving it no delay.

another addition would be a counter that tells you how many jumps you have left. I would find that very useful.

the wings delay would be useful. It is true that wings are too powerful. Great when you have em :lol-old: but not so cool when you are on the receiving end

EDIT: Spazzy Mcgee you were up at 3:39 am? WOW

Yes, this is off topic...

I see Spazzy was on at 5:39 AM. So that means that the times are in your local time. I beleive Spazzy lives in the UK, and I live in the US (EST, which is GMT -5). The UK is on GMT, which means that Spazzy was on at 10:39 AM, so not that amazing. And that would put you on MST, or in Arizona. :D
