BZFlag beta build 2.0.5b5
BZFlag beta build 2.0.5b5
Today we have 2.0.5b5.
Windows Installer
http://my.bzflag.org/builds/2.0.x/bzflag-2.0.5b5.exe
(requires DirectX 7+)
All current builds for 2.0.x will always be at http://my.bzflag.org/builds/2.0.x/
Linux and mac folk can, as always, build from sources;
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/bzflag/ or
anonymous cvs; see http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=3248 to download, and read the README for build instructions. 2.0.5 builds come from the v2_0branch tag; use -R v2_0branch.
Please report any issues you have with this build, even if you think we already know about them!
Thanks for your feedback.

Not exactly like that. He is one of the best map makers out there, and his input on new features is held in high regard, since he actualy uses them to a high degree. Treapan often will do things that he requests to make the maps that everyone loves. He is one of the only mapers that is pushing what bzfs can do, and driving development.
so yes, he has input on features he needs, and if he makes a map that uses the features, we will make a build so that people can use them. His features are well thought out and ones that are needed, so they get done faster.
This build was not triggered by that, this was simply because we haven't done one in a while, and it seemed like a time to do one.

go into your other bzflag directory ( for 2.0.5b4 or something) copy zlibwapi.dll and paste that into the data directory of your 2.0.5b4
it seems to be missing from thsi beta build ( I have already heard of 5 cases from ppl on my msn)
I know I had to go to my 2.0.4 directory to get it, it seems gone form my 2.0.5 section.

Source?
Where can I get a bundled version of the 2.0.5b5 source.
The only thing I could find was the 2.0.5b5 source bundled at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... up_id=3248.
This is the first time I have attempted this. Is there any help you can offer.

no, you just need to use cvs.
most linux installs come with cvs. there is a link on the main page about how to access CVS. there are many threads on this forum for how to get and build 2.0.x.
we don't build source packages, because we know every linux user can just GET the source from cvs. Please don't make it out to be harder then it is.
what you'll do is
in your terminal do this
then just build the code.
That will get you the current 2.0.5bwhaterver code. It's actualy even better then our windows builds since it's up to the momoent code for 2.0.5.
You should note, that windows IS the most popular client, and windows does NOT come with a compiler by default ( like most linux systems do). This is why we build binary versions on windows, and not other OSs. It dosn't mean other OSs are "screwed" it just means we arn't packaging for them, because they can get what they need.

what you'll do is
in your terminal do this
Code: Select all
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/bzflag login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/bzflag co -P -r v2_0branch bzflag

Thank you!
That was all I was looking for.
I downloaded it sucessfully. I will try and and complile it soon.
I am new to this and that was all I needed to know.
It probably said that somewhere, but I just needed someone to say it to me.

I am flattered (blush). Thank you for the support and thank you for the timely responses to my requests. Trepan has been most helpful and he has been my mentor in my map making quests throughout the time I have been involved with BZFlag. Without him, I would have quit with map making a long, long time ago.JeffM2501 wrote:Win Xp

That's because you downloaded 2.1 in CVS. 2.1 is the new default branch and is incompatible with 2.0.x. Add this option to your checkout of CVS:Spazzy Mcgee wrote:how come after i do ./configure it returnsBZFlag-2.1.6.20060201 seems to be a strange version to me. or am i being idiotic?BZFlag-2.1.6.20060201 with the following:

Thanks. Hopefully I should get my VS2005 CVS working soon and then I won't need these anymore
I played b5 for a while now that my internet connection is working and lag free.
The only problems I get is when starting and exiting the game the screen goes black for 10 seconds like the PC is going to crash
Also can someone help me compile 2.1. I am not getting any replies
