how many gig does a sever use

Hi I was considering running my own server and I was wondering, how many gig a month in bandwidth would a popular server take?

Or a server that runs for 12 hrs a day?

It all depends on the player count, and shot count. A secretplace like server with 10 players and 3 shots averages about 80 gigs a month.

the same server with 10 shots and 10 players averages just over 250gigs a month.

If you don't mind a little lag, hosting on DSL is nice. My ISP (SBC Yahoo!) hasn't said anything, yet so in most cases I would say it's fine. Just to be on the safe side you can host for a little bit and gradually go up.

But then you would need a DSL connection...

I wish my cable did not have a bandwidth limit
