Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Forum upgrade to phpBB3
I (finally) finished the upgrade to phpBB3. There are some things I need to do yet, such as:
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
I took a look at the User Control Panel and it seems to me it is now impossible to change username. Are we forced to create multiple accounts or did I miss a link in the UCP?
Other than that and the group problem, I haven't noticed anything buggy.

It looks like you can change it by going to your UCP, then Profile, then "Edit account settings".Saber wrote:I took a look at the User Control Panel and it seems to me it is now impossible to change username. Are we forced to create multiple accounts or did I miss a link in the UCP?

What "group problem" are you having?

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
I would definitely put working on the Theme as a high priority - the default one is practically unreadable.
And the lesson for tonight is:
Never underestimate the ability of a newb to expect instant success and cry "cheat!" when they don't get it. Don't hate the newb, just give them plenty of learning opportunities.

That's very true for me, too. I can hardly read it.Avatar wrote:I would definitely put working on the Theme as a high priority - the default one is practically unreadable.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Hi,
new board - congrats.
I encountered a problem joining any map.
I can't properly join a map using my callsign (wanda)
with lowercase 'w' any more, as I did all the time before.
Using an uppercase 'W', I succeed.
At http://gu.bzleague.com I still can login with lowercase 'w'.
Any help?

Yes, please get the old theme back as soon as possible. Right now, it looks - shall we say - uncool.

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
The problem comes with the fact the phpBB 2.0 themes are not compatible with 3.0 themes. Plus, the author of the original theme never made a 3.0 compatible theme, so someone would need to make a updated version, if his license agreement allows it.

They always said it was gonna happen eventually - well done to Blast, Jeff, Donny Baker and others that put the work in to maintain this board. They deserve three big cheers from all of us!

Did it work prior to the forum upgrade?ashvala wrote:Well, The group problem I face is that I cant spawn on the GU league match servers!(Really cant, cant on bzf or on anyother GU server for that matter.[It goes upto Global Login Approved! to please use /identify)
Yes, I just duplicated that issue. Seems that somewhere it's doing case sensitives username checks. I'll look into that.Wanda wrote:Hi,

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
As of now, nobody can play a gu match. Spawning and talking not possible.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
The site you mention is a 3rd party one, not sharing login with this board. With other words: You have a completely independent account there.Wanda wrote:At http://gu.bzleague.com I still can login with lowercase 'w'.

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Okay, the case sensitivity issue with callsigns should be fixed for the global login in-game now. I still need to fix it for the weblogin script.
I'm also going to look into the group issues. It's probably related, since phpBB3's mysql tables now use a case sensitive collation for storing strings. It's been "fun" getting this to work like it used to.

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
As for the groups issues, make sure that the group name you have listed in your -groupdb file matches the one here on the forum EXACTLY, including the case of the letters. SOMETHING.ADMIN isn't the same as something.admin, so fix that and it should work.
I don't see an easy way to fix this. So, instead of wasting time on it, I'm going to work on a more long term solution and try to finish the group manager. Then we won't use phpBB for our group management, and thus won't have this issue.

Thank you blast. Seems to work again - at least for me.blast wrote:Okay, the case sensitivity issue with callsigns should be fixed for the global login in-game now. ...

Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Oh and before I forget: Thanks for upgrading to the new version.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Seems that the current groups that have issues are ones that aren't all uppercase. BZFS sends the groups in uppercase, so that's causing issues now. I'm attempting to fix the issue as soon as possible.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Okay, I converted all group names to uppercase. So that should solve the problem for now.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
The theme is a very LOW priority compared to functionality.
The old theme doesn't make sense since it won't have support for all the new features of phpbb3.
We will be working on making this one less... white..
But priorities are base funcationality, such as list server and group support.

I can only change e-mail and password. I see my username in bold but can't change it. This isn't a big deal as I like my username but some might want to change theirs.blast wrote:It looks like you can change it by going to your UCP, then Profile, then "Edit account settings".

Great job on the upgrade

Yeah, something is messed up with that yet.
Re: Forum upgrade to phpBB3
Oh, don't get me wrong - I fully recognize that functions such as the list server and group support are INCREDIBLY important, but those are BZ-in-general issues that relate to the forum. In regards to issues that are very forum-specific, a readable Theme that is both eye and brain friendly (some of the old familiarity is useful, too - it took me a while to realize that user info was now being listed on the right side of the posts instead of the left, so I didn't know who was saying what early on) goes a long way...JeffM wrote:But priorities are base funcationality, such as list server and group support.
