Private Server

Post by allejo »

Ok I'm planning to start a server but i don't think i will be able to to but i need know one thing for now. is it possible to have a private server that can only be accessed by typing in the server and port on a computer. i want to have a server just for me and my friends where no one else can play. and i don't want it to be able to be accessed publicly only by typing the server and its port. i know there are many server owners and i know someone will be able to help me.

thank
-ha you got shot by me

with out -public it won't register with the list server, but it will still listen and respond on your port. that's all you have to do is just take it out.

You could also make it so only people in a certain group can join. For instance, to play in a GU League match server, you need to be in the GU League group.

if you want authentication you can set it up as a "public" server and add the "-advertise none" option in your config file. That will keep it from being on the list server.

You can use global groups to have more control.

Or, you can use the -public option, and use -advertise option to only advertise to your group members. That way, only the people you want to have join your server can see the server on the list.
