Unable to run bzflag

Trying to run it on a fresh Ubuntu 7.10 install...only thing I've added was the official nVidia drivers for my 7900GS.

Anyways, I try to run the program, and I get a flash of a black window and that's all. If I run from console, I get this message:

Code: Select all

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 134 (XFree86-VidModeExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request: 10 (XF86VidModeSwitchToMode)
  Value in failed request: 0x1a5
Serial number of failed request: 146
Current serial number in output stream: 148
So, what the crap? :lol-old:

the video mode your asking for is failing. make sure your drivers are installed properly. If they are, try runing BZ in a window with

Code: Select all

bzflag -window -geometry 800x600
most likely X is not set up to know what full screen resolutions your display supports.

Im getting this error too. I wasn't earlier than I changed my graphics from medium, to low. I closed the game and when I tried to re-open it all I got was a black screen.

This was on BZFlag2.1.14, though I get the same error with 2.0.8 and .9 etc. I'm on windows if that's an issue..

Press F1 or select a display mode using Options > Display Settings > Change Video Format.
