the best way possible!
the best way is this. arrows to drive
key right of arrow to drop flag.
space bar and v to shoot.
c to jump.
g f d for map views. advisable to use long range and medium range map.
b for binocs.
y to lock on.
takes practice but is the most efficent way once learnt.
I have top score on mofo so must be good!
Another lill tip is have your radar panel quite big.
Hope this helps.
takes paractice though.[/b]

With:
shoot=q and
lock on=e,
I like the key mapping just the way it is.

I have two configurations depending on whether I'm on my laptop (which has very small arrow keys) or my desktop computer.
Laptop:
Left: P
Right: ]
Forward: [
Backward: /
Jump: Tab
Lock on / Identify: R (with middle finger)
Fire: V
Desktop:
Arrow keys for direction, and same Jump, Lock on, and Fire as above. In doing this, my fourth finger is free to hit many of the other keys in that area (S, 1, 2, 3, W...). Since the second finger is stronger than the fourth, I find it a better finger to use for rapid firing. Also, it is right next to the B (Binoculars).

I like:
arrow keys to drive
left click or scroll wheel to shoot
right click to jump
middle button to drop flag
delete (which happens to be right by the arrow keys, I hit it with my pinkie) to lock on
regular everything else
I like the arrow key/mouse combo because you can work the arrow keys when its normal driving, and use mouse for fine-control jumping or whatever. Plus the most important buttons are at your right hand (on the mouse) and you can lock on easily with your left hand (arrow keys).

I like:
Arrow keys or mouse to drive (depends on what map I'm on)
left mouse button/scroll wheel to fire (scroll wheel basically allows you to fire all your bullets at the same time)
right mouse button to jump
press down scroll wheel to lock on.

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
All my keys on the keyboard are the same as default IIRC, but the mouse I changed a bit.
Left Mouse = Shoot
Middle Mouse = Drop flag
Right Mouse = Identify/Lock/Spawn
Mysterious Tiny Left Mouse = Radar Zoom .05
Mysterious Tiny Right Mouse = Radar Zoom .5
Wheel Up = Jump
Wheel Down = Shoot (for shot bursts)
I find this configuration works quite well if I'm talking on the phone, because I can hold the phone with my left hand and play BZ with my right.

LMB jump, scroll down shoot, RMB lock/ID/spawn, scroll up zoom,
Q W shoot, E shoot/lock on, R radar, S scoreboard, C chat, V zoom.
I find it works quite well.

Left Click, Spacebar to shoot
Scroll Wheel down to shoot a perfect spread
C to jump
/ to drop flag
5 for super zoom (tele passes)
3 and 2 default radar zooms
1 is custom zoom, a bit more zoomed out than the default, and it is the radar zoom i usually play with. However, I switch between 1 2 and 3 zooms quite a lot.

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
It depends a lot on your style of play. My recommendation for most mouse players is, get a mouse that has several buttons on it (I still use the MS optical explorer for BZ) and assign your most neded buttins to the mouse.
For my style of play, radar zooming and binos are mission-critical so most of my mouse functions focus on those. I use a click of the mouse wheel to toggle binos. I play a lot of sniping-related maps (having been a sniper myself) that require a lot of long-range shooting. These often require getting into/out of binos quickly.
Really, I just have my left hand resting on the left edge of the keyboard, my middle finger on tab (jump) and my thumb on the space bar. Everything else except messaging is done on my mouse.

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
Most important is to move shooting to the mouse wheel.
If you've done this you should experiment with your GUI settings, what can be a great help too.

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
First off, I don't use a mouse. All my play is on a laptop, on my lap...all keyboard:
Move: Arrow keys
Shoot: W
Identify: Q
Jump: Tab
Drop: Space
Nice'n simple, and no complaints.

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
I go with
w,a,s,d - movement
j,k - fire
l - identify/lock on
p - drop flag
space - jump
q - slow keyboard motion
o - binocs
w,a,s,d - movement

If you actually read the thread you would know how they got three keys.
