Google Summer of Code - Get Paid to work on BZFlag!

Post by DTRemenak »

The BZFlag team is pleased to announce that BZFlag has been chosen as a Google Summer of Code mentoring organization. Google's Summer of Code program offers students currently enrolled in higher education $4500US stipends to work on open-source projects.

Requirements (lifted from the SoC FAQ):
You must, as of April 9, 2007, be enrolled at an accredited higher educational institution, and should be prepared, upon request, to provide Google with transcripts from your institution as proof of enrollment or admission status.
You must be 18 years of age or older by April 9, 2007.
You must not be a citizen of Iran, Syria, Cuba, Sudan, North Korea or Myanmar.
You must have sufficient free time over the summer to complete your entire project. Generally that means that if you are employed full time, you will not have sufficient time.
As with all BZFlag contributors, you will be expected to grant nonexclusive copyright for your work to the current BZFlag maintainer, Tim Riker. This allows us the flexibility to change licenses if necessary, and relicense for activities such as game console ports.

Interested students should check out BZFlag's Summer of Code suggestions on the new BZFlag Wiki, and are welcome to discuss additional proposals on BZFlag's IRC channel, #bzflag on freenode.net.

The student application deadline is March 24th, so don't procrastinate if you would like to participate.
