I'm not familiar with redhat, but this error mesage seems to indicate, that you're missing gl (mesa) development files. I'm sure there is a corresponding rpm for this.

Just for the record, it did work fine in RH 9, but very jerky and slow. I may need to compile my own binary, I'll keep you posted.

I've downloaded it, but it says "Avengers" on the end of it.

I had the same problems with the latest BZ on MD 9.1

Ended up,
#1 uninstalling the updated kernel-source
#2 installing the orig kernel-source that shipped with 9.1
#3 installing mesa from mesa3d.soundforge (don't quote me on the web site - if you can't find it, lemme know)
#4 reinstalling the Nvidia drivers...

After all that, the latest BZ works great now...
Hope this gives ya some pointers.
The RPM that says it is for gcc2 gives me this error:

error: failed dependencies:

libc.so.6(GLIBC2_3) is needed by bzflag-1.7G2-1
libstdc++.so.5 is needed by bzflag-1.7G2-1
libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2) is needed by bzflag-1.7G2-1

When I try to compile, the make command errors out on trying to find GL/gl.h in the file includes/bzfgl.h

I'm about to upgrade to RH 9 anyway, so this may be a moot point.
I have this exact same problem when I attempt to run 1.7g2 on IRIX 6.5.17. Im thinking binary compiles need to be statically linked rather than dynamic.
