I think that shots should be impactable. If your bullet hits another bullet the other bullet and your cancel. This makes you able to diflect other peoples gm or normal shots. Lazers would bounce off other lazers.

Then if we realy got going i think a barrier flags in order so that you shoot and it makes a wall the size of your tank (tanks can go through but bullets diflect back towards shooter).

Ya there you all can go ahead and ponder those

A splitter flag- when a bullet hits an enemy it splits into more and spreads at the same tragectory. It dies when distance runs out or when hits walls. It is very likely to hit you.

So basically your ideas are:

Shots explode shots collide with other shots; lasers bounce off each other,
An Insta-barrier;
and shrapnel shot flag.
(how do you spell it? sh-RAP-nel?)
I'm thinking I need a better sig than this...

-i have had the oportunity i could of shot the missle but it did not stop it.


An Insta-barrier;->take out useless so as not to hate the damn flag


and shrapnel shot flag-> Make machine gun more likely to take you out so people aren't as anoyed

Technically light can't bounce off eachother unless theres a mirror there, but you can't see through a mirror and still have it bounce off. :P

Machine gun is not one of the best defaultly configured flags, but it just takes a few extra lines to make it good.

It would be a good idea, but it just makes things more difficult. Also, lag interferes and just makes things weird.
I haven't touched BZFlag for years, but maybe sometime I'll make a comeback.

You can dodge a gm on most servers but not all some have a small gm turn radious.

Also Machine gun is very volitile as it is. Take badgerkings place for instance. It has a machin gun that the bullets die after a sertain time is up. Depending on a persons lag a groups of bullets may go on forever.

But with my shrapnel gun it cuts off after a distance is covered by each bullet.

the bullets still 'die', even with lag. its the fact that it takes so long for the server to tell your client that, that makes it seem like they would go on forever.
Games don't make people violent, lag does.

Shot collision would theoretically be possible if/when the server handles hit detection and has a more complete game state.

What could be really neat is having momentum collisions and ricochet from colliding bullets. 8)

As far as I can tell, MG shots only run away with certain settings on them, and whatever improvements you are suggesting could be made with a simpler fix of the machine gun's implementation.

The colision of bullets is exactly what i was thinking

- but if you go to badgerking the bullets actualy do travel different distances depending on lag it is a serious ploblem. The distance should be monitored. I know other peoples lag ranges the bullets time because I am on a wired lan and my lag is in general always the same.


I still think that a machine gun firing across the level is cheap.
