Choppy sound? I sussed out problem for fedora core 4

I used to get problems with choppy audio on FC4 using kde.

The cure:-

1. Turn off the kde sound system via the control centre (sound & multimedia / Sound system)

2. Via K menu launch - system tools / soundcard detection and tick the box saying "disable software mixing (dmix, dsnoop)"

Thats it!

another problem with ubuntu was Remote Sounds that caused my choppy sound ... i havent had any problems with gentoos sound, video, or anything else
