Re: 103 and going...!!!
I looked at the logs and I am skeptical too... Funny there were no comments about it (that I saw). Surely someone would have noticed and made a comment. And there were "nice shot" comments from you both times you were on today, which generally means that someone got you... As would the kills column in the screen shot....metallkopf wrote:Here's my BEST SCORE EVER!!!
No bots... real play... notice the "spotted" notification; If you ever play LouMan's lasermania, you know bobcat341... you know this screenshot is REAL!
I would've shot higher, but I play while at work and had to stop to push a user's print job through to the color printer ... argh!!!

BUSTED.....
From the screenshot the best I can tell is your score was +2 (18-16) but of course a few other people may have come and went, but you defenitely DID get killed!!!
donny_baker... ADMIN@LaserMania Have a nice day....

BUSTED -- Part II
metallkopf wrote:It's funny to watch an entire group of people flock to an easy assumption that is yet no more than an assumption.
One thing was "photoshopped" - the size of the image. As I told donny_baker earlier, Apple-Shift-3 took a 5MB screenshot and the forums complained when I tried to upload it... so I downsized it to a little less than 1MB.
Nothing else changed / edited / whatever... so what exactly is it that you "can tell" about my image... ??? Idiots.
I play somewhat frequently; watch me in action.
donny_baker - Any chance scores are reported in those logs? Maybe, final scores - as in like when a player exits; or did you just ignore all of these things? Try checking server logs of communications.... hint hint.
I can say "nice shot" to my teammates; in fact, I frequently do - I encourage awesome eliminations by laser - you should too jack-o!

There is no assumption in my claim, nor are we the "Idiots" you think us to be. You just don't understand everything that the score screen shows, so you didn't edit all of the relevent places.
Let's work under the assumption that you didn't edit it. My question to you is "Why doesn't the "kills" column reflect that you weren't killed?" According to my calculations from the "kills" column you were killed 16 times (by the players who were on at the time).
According to the "kills" column here are your standings against :
Bobcat341 : You killed him 5 times... he killed you 10
Fred From France : You killed him 10 times... he killed you 5
JBionic: You didn't kill him... but he got you once.
Again you are BUSTED... The screen shot says it all...
The "Kills" colunm reflects you against everyone else (for that playing session)...
The only way to get a 5-10 in the kills column against bobcat341 is for him to kill you 10 times while you have killed him 5 times. That in itself proves that he killed you 10 times, and therefore the 103-0 score is IMPOSSIBLE to have been had without editing.
So I do not dispute that 103-0 is a possible but highly unlikely score, but it is not the one you had with your screenshot. And the "Kills" column proves it. CASE CLOSED.
Just admit it and move on...

isn't it?metallkopf wrote:It's funny to watch an entire group of people flock to an easy assumption that is yet no more than an assumption.
now instead of restating everything donny said, let me just say that if you want to call a bunch of ppl idiots, make sure you edit your screenshots correctly so it impossible to tell that you actually did edit them.metallkopf wrote:Nothing else changed / edited / whatever... so what exactly is it that you "can tell" about my image... ??? I do know that players come and go, and that you cannot tell the persons total score from the "Kills"column ... but you are too dense to understand why your screenshot showed that you did not earn the score that you posted. You cheated for it. You were so focused on the score column that you didn't see the relationship that the kills column has. Guess you need to study the source code somemore.
He did not "photoshop" the screenshot... That being said, I don't want people to think that you did get 103. You modified the client so that the scores didn't reflect any kills and counted each kill you made as between 2 and 3 kills (as close as I can tell, but it works out to about that from the one example I have to compare it to). When I showed on my screen that you had +8 (17-9), you told me that yours showed 44-0, but I had killed you and others had too. You also made other, not so harmless, modifications to the source, which you then proceded to ask me to watch you in observation mode while you showed it off.
Modifying the source to gain an advantage over another player (super fast tank[which you had me observe you with], invincible tank, or anything like that) is severely frowned upon on a public server. Will get you a ban everytime. You should test modifications like that on a PRIVATE server. The score hack doesn't hurt anyone, but don't present it as something that it is not.
Here is the PM I received:
Why ban
Hey man. I'm just interested in the workings of the game so I play around with the source to figure it out. I don't stay on long or do much damage. The ban is totally unfair.
I'm not using a "cheat client" or sharing my "hacks" with anyone. I modify the source myself, build the client, and then play... all as a part of trying to get to know the inner workings of the game a little more.
anyway - I'd appreciate it if you unbanned metallkopf. I have many names and will always get more. But I'd like to just use metallkopf for testing of the source modifications.
And again, the source modifications are not so I can "cheat;" making changes and expecting them to work is one thing; having them work confirms what I know of the source code and can help me understand the game further.
Regardless, it took you long enough to guess that. You should've known as soon as I said I didn't Photoshop it. Smile
Happy BZFlagging... see you on soon... perhaps as "someone else"

I still think photoshopping is easier.I modify the source myself, build the client, and then play
Hint: And when you do it right, nobody will notice and you'll be the Hero of us all.
And since you are interested in understanding the code and the game:
If you modify your client to show a different score, the modified score is not automatically updated on all other clients of players on the same map.
They will continue to show the correct score count.
So as the score as displayed on your screen impresses yourself a great deal, the other players are totally not aware of your pwnmentship and great skills.
A screenshot as you did seemed to be a good idea to spread that knowledge, unfortunately you messed a bit up in your math, which resulted that we got another impression of some of your skills than you aimed for.
still, nobody was a great cheat at their first shot, and non after their last.
But keep up the motivation, nothing beats impressing yourself.

Heah! You're really weird.
It's really fun to watch you all discuss what we all knew was a cheat and fake anyway.
I pulled your leg long enough to piss you off... you still rant.
Anyway - I admit it certainly wasn't a good idea to test modifications on a popular (and nice) server like LaserMania, but I did.
I will certainly continue impressing myself on private servers and such.
Thanks for all your muchings losers.

ok, i think point is taken.
The fact that he did show an admin of the server his changes in code (if i understand correctly he demonstrated them), cleares him a bit of the assumption that he tries to destruct the fun of others.
The main point is to understand, that modifying clients to have an advantage over other players is a no-do on all/most servers.
The game can be a hell of a lot of fun if you keep it clean and improve your ingame skills.
