Online map viewer and picture taker.

Post by BinarySpike »

I've been thinking... I'm working on iBZEdit which can view maps and soon take pictures... but wouldn't it be cool if there was a Java program that could take a map and let you "roam" in it?

And take pictures?

That wouldn't be hard to do... just make a console that picks the URL of the map or the text of the map and display it... and make it automatically open files...

so...

that would open the applet with the map automatically loaded... that way you could view maps without having to download them... and take pictures and upload them easily.

http://whereEverIHostIt.com/BZWViewer.j ... om/map.bzw

When you click that link the java applet would open http://locationtomap.com/map.bzw and view it...

Then you could move like roaming and take pictures.
(even get online textures working :D)

That'd be a simple way to edit/create a map too without downloading anything.

And while we're at it we might as well create a BZFlag FireFox extension (since its java...)

it would be mega useful for mappers to release thier maps. it's like a super-screenie.

but of course it would be hard to do 2.0 stuff.

I would really love that. It's often annoying to have to start a server and a client etc just to take a look at a change in a mesh or whatever in BZ.

Perhaps BZEdit or a program needs a simple tank view of a map viewer.

That would be OS specific and hard... (and no... I'm not gonna do it in iBZEdit, I have an almost perfect roaming right now...)

I was just thinking of the "super screenie" idea...

Not actually creating maps through it...

Although if iBZEdit pulls through alright then I think I'll try a Java version.
