New "physics" driver
How about a "physics" driver that was Text? You touch or land on the object and it displays text. That would be useful to mapmakers in identification. I could use it.

why is it useless?
you could make it say "entering red territory" when you enter the red area of the map.
you could make it say "danger... red hot lava ahead"
it's uses are infinate. and seeing as you don't use 2.0 objects in your maps grand slam, why do you care?

Since we have a death-phydrv which features a configurable message the implementation seems to be there... the only thing is making it possible that you don't die.

Oh yeah, the possibilities are endless on this.
"You are at a primary camping spot!"
"Geno flag nearby"
"I'd rather be playing at Planet MoFo"
"You should be paying more attention to the game than reading these silly messages"
(on the south side of a map)
"To keep an idiot busy, see the north side of the map"
(then on the north side of the map...)
"To keep an idiot busy, see the south side of the map"
"This space for rent"
...you could do jokes, and other distracting things with the text, like riddles, hidden messages, acient chinese proverbs, I could go on and on.

I could imagine it at Metropolis:
"To keep an idiot busy, go to the south side of town"
(OK, that was kinda lame)
I would use it once I start using these 2.0 objects, but besides the use for mapmaking I can see it's uses in "production-level" servers. Great idea AA!

i dont know if this would really be adding any play value to the game..
it would add some comedy for sure...
it sounds more like an RPG tool for RPG type games
for solving puzzles or mazes or treasure hunts...
examples some mentioned:
"this spot is great for camping"
would we really need this?...camping spots are
easy to find it rarely takes more the 2-3 days
of playing a map before you find them yourself...
lets leave a little mystery to exploring the maps
shall we?
"entering red territory"
this is obvious if you look at radar where each team's
base is located....

That would be pretty interesting. That would be like a more difficult radar, without the tanks. Also, you could have a physics driver that changes variables when you're on it. Something like your radar starts worling, or stops or it starts to rain... The sky could change if you go on a base, as a warining...
I never make stupid mistakes. Only very, very clever ones.
It is not the fall that kills you. It's the sudden stop at the end.
Always remember you are unique. Just like everybody else.
