BZFlag Map Archive on BZ-Next

Post by bz_next »

Hi all,

I am working on making a map archive for the game, using the map viewer at https://bz-next.github.io/

You can check out the current version here:
https://bz-next.github.io/mapviewer4/mapviewer.html

The idea would be to have a dedicated page where the app loads with a big browsable list of maps, sorted by author.
Each map would be given attribution, and the license (if there is an explicit license) would be specified.

For this, I need permission from any map authors whose work is not explicitly open-source licensed in order to host those maps.

If maps use includes, they would need minimal editing for compatibility with the web app (copy and pasting includes into the map file).

If you are a map author and are OK with having your maps added to the archive, please respond to this thread.
Also, if you are in contact with some of the authors of classic maps, would you be willing to ask them about this?

Thank you! Happy tanking.

There's now a prototype / demo up at https://bz-next.github.io/mapviewer4/mapviewer.html

I've added a couple maps by DucatiWannabe, ahs3, as well as Fairground by Ian.
