packetloss!

Post by his vanity »

YES! i know there are COUNTLESS threads on this subject but still:
i have a 2.5 MB connection, and i see no reason why i should have any problems.
i have win XP and running in the back msn messenger and skype. i have 2GB ram, so that shouldn't be a problem.

AND STILL,

on the "boxy war" server i have packetloss.

please help

So why not reading these threads...? (The answers are written there, too) You should read them, otherwise change your callsign to "his accommodativeness". (Basically my answer will be nothing more than just an incomplete representation of these threads, if they didn't write nonsence there)

Packet loss doesn't necessary depend on the connection-speed. (But low speed naturally abets packet loss, if your bandwith becomes a bottleneck. Though it's not strange if high-speed connection have packet-loss, even if the bandwith isn't the bottleneck.)

Just on boxy war? If no, then the issue is either your system or your isp.

Are you using W-LAN? (As a weak w-lan connection can cause packet loss, too)

If you are on a wireless connection and not hardwired, update to the latest wireless network drivers and make sure your WAP/Wireless Router have the latest firmware.

Do you use a stationary computer, or a mobile?
If it's the last named, then check your packet loss on other internet connections. If you don't get packet loss there, then the issue isn't on your computer system, thus one potential source of error less which we can exclude.
