BZFlag merger with WarZone (WZFlag)
me1: We simply don't have the manpower to maintain two forks of bzflag at this point, and the dev team is really excited about wzflag. You're welcome to work on bzflag yourself, the source is still available. We think you'll be convinced once you actually start playing wzflag though
Cobra: I already posted about gamestyles. So far, Siege, TFFA, and FFA. We're working on the others.

Cobra: Siege is a new gamestyle...one attacking and one defending team, very construction-oriented.
me1: When our svn repo goes live, you're welcome to check out the code. Be aware that it still doesn't work right on Windows, and there are a lot of glitches and crashes still...it's been no small task to get it to work well enough to start playing with. It'll probably be a few weeks before we have anything stable enough to build a binary and start showing off.

What you people see here is a very immature version of what we are cooking, soon I, or RPG_ will release a pretty playable (I think), version. Stay tuned .
I will post more screenies soon

A full myspace page is being designed. Hopefully that will let the game gain greater exposure to a larger variety of people. The targeted audience will include all genders, religions, and ethnicities.H0ley wrote:.......
I hope there's MORE female players on wzflags.
Web pages will be set up on the new site to support the various minority groups that WZFlag will attract.
We encourage diversity.
This new merge looks great but I do have some questions.
Will you still be able to jump freely? As in without the need of a 'jumping flag'. I saw a screenshot that was taken and a tank had picked up a jumping flag - perhaps that was for a 'non jumping' server.
Will the controls be more alike to BZflag - or more alike to WarZone?
I've also seen a screenshot of where the terrain had lots of ditches and bumps in the ground. How would the tanks take it? Would they be able to climb both up and down the hills etc., with no problem at all?
Another is about the servers BZFlag has - Im sure they will be available in WZFlag but they will ALL look much much different won't they? More, realistic I suppose.
Im a little sad that such an already great game is going through such a drastic change - Though this doesn't mean that I am not really really excited that it is too. It does look like alot of fun but difficult too.

That's my big hurdle. I like BZFlag because it's simple and fast. I can sit down and play for ten minutes at a time and not feel like I haven't accomplished anything. It really helps me clear my mind on a lunch break or during coding sessions.Grace F wrote: Im a little sad that such an already great game is going through such a drastic change - Though this doesn't mean that I am not really really excited that it is too. I'm going to hold on to 2.0.x for a long time, but I'm sure I'll spend some time trying out the new version. Someone needs to pick up and continue the 2.0.x branch, though, IMHO.
Namaste.
