Re: Project Meniscus
Is it just me or is that a little big? Seemed like a pretty simple map to me... (besides the drawinfo) A lot of LouMan's maps are over 1MB. Home Sweet Home for instance is 2.7 MB and 107,106 lines long. I could get the filesize a bit smaller if I grouped some things instead of making multiple meshs...

Re: Project Meniscus
good one Jefenry!!! (Urban Terror :: LOL) i hate april fools  Actually, I play Urban Terror much more than BZFlag, although for chatting with people and making maps, BZFlag can't be beaten. Splendid piece of work. Thanks, so many of the models had to be thrown out because they looked horrible...

Re: Project Meniscus
April Fools! You're not getting rid of me just yet ;) I've got a text file with enough map ideas to last me until well after the sun burns out. I've even sketched out a new map already. Although it'll have to wait until I get the bugs sorted out on this map. A few more fun things about this map: 1. ...

Re: Project Meniscus
Wow, that looks really cool. I will certainly miss you, what is the new game you're playing? Urban Terror, their maps have so many more features ;D You can climb ladders, run up slopes, aim independently of which direction you're moving, and their physics are more realistic. Too bad map making isn'...

Re: Project Meniscus
What did you use to make it? Wings3d? Wings3d for the models, ModelTool to convert to .bzw, DI-Machine to make the drawInfo, Gimp to make a few textures, and a healthy dose of the good old TextEdit. Don't be a stranger, come back to visit, from time to time. It was great fun working with you. :) It...

Project Meniscus
http://jefenry.com/main/ProjectMeniscus_attachments/ProjectMeniscusLogo1.png This is my latest and final map. It takes place in the late 80's at a secret Soviet chemical weapons plant far out in the Arctic tundra. They are tasked with synthesizing a chemical weapon far more potent than any other kn...

drawInfo Tutorial
I've been messing with drawInfo a lot recently and a few people have asked me how it works, so I thought I'd make a tutorial about how I do it. This doesn't cover anything about multiple LOD's because I haven't done much with them yet. Strictly spinning stuff. Hopefully it'll be helpful. http://www....

Gah, it's been so long I last installed a plugin into Wings that I forgot all about not expanding it. It's working fine now, thanks Optic

Re: OveRDoZe by teamvss
Wow, quite impressive. I love maps that are really detailed and have easter eggs scattered around. If only that biplane had some machine guns and could fly :) The framerate is a little low in places, but not as bad as I'd expected. You can help it by using fewer objects, like an arc instead of tons ...

Re: No Jumping with Flags on buildings?
You might also try using Wings instead of No Jumping and add _jumpVelocity 0 and _wingsJumpVelocity 19 to the options.

Easter Island
Easter Island has been on my list of maps to make for quite a while and I finally decided to quit procrastinating and make it. This was mainly meant to be an eyecandy map to see how much I'd forgotten about Wings3d since my last big map ;D It took me about a week and a half to make, and there are no...

Marzi and I tried out a 10 story, 100 obstacle map recently. The script used to generate the course seems to be working perfectly, although the fps were generally pretty low. It took us just under an hour to get to the top, and I was about half an obstacle behind Marzi. Here are a few screenshots we...

It was late last night and I didn't get around to making a post here, so Marzi beat me to it :P. This is a collaborative project, that aims to make a map similar to BZFlag Olympics, TO by Tanner, and Jumping Skillz. You get a 30º section of a 325 x 325 arc to make your obstacles, and there's no limi...

Making .bzw play animations
Here's how I do it: 1. Make a new folder to keep all the frames in. 2. Open a file in Quicktime. 3. File -> Export 4. Choose Movie to Image Sequence 5. Options -> Make sure "insert space before number" is unchecked and it saves as .png 6. Save (Make sure there's no spaces in the name) 7. P...

Post your config file
Slime and I recently exchanged configs and tried out each other's settings. It was pretty fun, so that gave me the idea to make this thread. Your config file should be located in: Windows My Documents\My BZFlag Files\2.0\config.cfg Mac OS X ~/Library/Application Support/BZFlag/2.0/config.cfg Linux a...

Actually, texturing teleporters is easy. Just make a material with "LinkMaterial" for the name.A Heart Attack wrote:And AFAIK, you can't texture a teleporter.
