Re: Can't drive on a meshbox... only if I jump over it
And so why on MissileWar, that (the floor with Z high very low, that allow tank shoot on loopholes) work well, fine, wonderful? There's a map setting (it's in the wiki) to adjust the height difference that allows a tank to just hop up onto a raised surface rather than be blocked by it. This is how ...

Re: extremely heavy flickering
Does the background flicker along with the text, or is it just objects and foreground? Are you running windowed or full-screen?

Re: Loumans mystic valey trees and Hide and seek brown rocks
Here is the thread where LouMan released the Mystic Valley and Laser Mania maps: http://my.bzflag.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=5634 Context from other posts (including statements from LouMan) state that it should be easy to extract whatever objects you would like to use straight out of the map fi...

It's a well-known glitch - this definitely isn't the first time it's been documented in the forums.

Re: nasty easter candy i havent seen in While maybe years
Last time I saw WHAMMO!? was on (IIRC) Mystic Valley last winter, possibly late Fall. We both talked about how we haven't been finding much time these days for playing, so he may just still be really busy and you two just aren't synching up on times when he does show (just like you and I tend to fai...

Re: Can't get onto any server
If all of your testing so far has been entirely on campus/dorms/school-managed areas, then it may be an issue with how the uni manages their WAN infrastructure. If this is the case, try to see if you can find some other area (preferably a private internet connection at a friend's place or something ...

Re: ubuntu intel 945GM low framerate
@Cobra_Fast: The "Identifier" line has no modifier to the operation of the driver or equipment, it's only there in case other sections of the xorg.conf file need to associate themselves with a specific video device (such as when using a multiple display setup). It's perfectly fine to leave...

Re: ubuntu intel 945GM low framerate
The latest releases of XOrg, which have been implemented in Ubuntu since 9.04, no longer rely on a conf file for initilization and therefore does not create one during installation. Instead, the conf file is only used when the default settings detected by the graphics driver end up needing correctio...

Re: Custom Tank
If you're still using the default name for tank textures (which is defined in the config separately from the team prefix), then the file should be named "electricB_tank.png", not "electricB_blue.png".

Re: mouse on a Mac
I also have to disagree with the statement on joysticks - I've been using various Saitek and Logitech sticks for BZ for nearly the entire 6+ years I've been playing this game. They give response ease and speed at least as good as a mouse or gamepad (read: "Xbox" or "Playstation" ...
Re: Im back.
I wasn't talking about the disappearance of hosting, more along the lines of the fact that there are players there maybe once a week (at best) and it only shows on the front page maybe once per quarter, as opposed to when ducktape was a more regular player and the map was consistantly not only on th...
Re: Im back.
You haven't really missed much, ducky, besides the gradual disappearance of Badgerking's. Other than that, it's all basically same day, different names.

You're right - Copyright is automatic in the US and is based on European literary copyright tradition. Formal registration of a copyrighted work is only necessary as a means of providing validated proof in the event of a dispute of ownership, in which case it also provides power to demand greater re...

Re: How many fps do you get ??? (Frames Per Second)
Depends on your operating system and GPU manufacturer (Intel, ATI/AMD, or nVidia), as each combination produces radically different steps for accessing driver-level video control properties.

Re: Texture Changes
This looks more like an error in loading the textures in the first place, especially if it fixes after reloading the client. Not knowing more about the hardware specs of your system, though, I couldn't think of trying to assume a specific cause.

Re: Simple Question - how to start the game?
You sometimes have to be operating as an admin/superuser when you install things from source on Ubuntu, otherwise it ends up in a local bin rather than the global bin and won't run from terminal (I discovered this tendency the hard way when installing xine from source on my HTPC). You will need to s...

Re: ServerList, Overcrowded?
I was thinking more like giving multi-map servers (norang springs immediately to mind) a "category" slot in the listings and selecting the server opens a new sublisting for the various maps hosted there. That way there's fewer items on the main page and it doesn't feel so overwhelming to b...

I did not see that part with the speed teleporting. This could essentially be like a rocket launcher but with tanks. Or change the names to "blue_electric.png", "red_electric.png", "green_electric.png", etc. Then change the line in your config file that reads: #set tankTexture tank to set tankTexture electric This way you still have both the electric and original mappings intact and c...

+1 to Blast's statement. My HTPC is running Ubuntu 10.04 and an nVidia GPU. Also, does Identify still report all flags as Steamroller (I ask because I haven't had an opportunity to play on it since it was still in testing)?
