Re: Teleporter Help

Alright, I've got to bring up the teleporter problem again. I am nearing the completion of my first map, all the construction and texturing are done, except the teleporters. I'm having this same problem, but with mesh to mesh teleportation. They will work fine occasionally, but will cease to functio...

Re: my bzf-wish

I agree, it is really a disappointment that only a handful of maps are ever used. I feel like I might be drifting too far from the original topic, but maybe we could implement some sort of "Underused Map of the Week" kind of thing. I guess a plugin could advertise the selected map on other...

Re: MIDI Input

Ah. I guess this would be simpler than adding MIDI functionality to BZ. I usually don't like to run other applications while running BZFlag, but I can't imagine either of the above consume any noticeable memory or processing power. Well, thank you for the suggestions, I'll check both of these...

I just connected and ran around for a little while and from what I can tell, it plays really well! Though, I couldn't help but notice that there are Phantom Zone flags, but no teleporters :). Are you planning on adding any?

Haha, or you could go James Bond opening credits style and look out from the inside of the gun barrel. You could even have it glaze over with red when you get shot.

MIDI Input

Now there may not be a significant amount of people who would use this, but I was wondering about possibly adding a MIDI controller input in addition to Keyboard, Mouse and Joystick. I've always been intrigued by the idea of custom HIDs for video games, and it's very easy to configure a piece of har...

Simply wonderful :D. Great way to scan for admin abuse without signing on. Is there any way it could let you know if a vote is successful? I don't think anything actually sends "/kick" when it happens.

If you could assign tank luminosity exclusively to certain tanks, that'd be a wild rabbit chase. (Glowing rabbit, dull hunters)

Re: Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!

Hello, all. Just thought I'd drop in for a quick update. The code is getting messy. It's becoming impossible to locate handlers, classes, etc., so I am beginning to rewrite what I've done so far. However, this time I plan to spread the honors into individual classes, and in their own files. Hopefull...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?

They are brilliant live, I've seen them twice now. The second time was a couple of weeks after MJ died, and Chris Martin played Billie Jean. It was pure genius. Wow, that's really strange, I saw them around the same time (2-3 weeks after MJ), but I was here in the states. I had a VIP Pass and got t...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?

Once in awhile I'll listen to some music while playing bzflag... when I do its coldplay... :D Ah, a fellow Coldplay fan. Saw them in concert this summer. Breathtaking. However, when I'm BZFlagin, I am strictly Credence Clearwater Revival, with the occasional swash of Modest Mouse. When I'm feeling ...

Re: Team Voice Chat

I would actually prefer not to actually talk using voice chat. I would feel a little uncomfortable communicating with other players like that. It's also very hard to censor a voice chat, no? It might detract from the clean image of bzflag. On the other hand, it would be great for co-op stuff, but I'...

Re: Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!

The cake is a lie! It's feels like forever since I've messed with Portal. Personally, I think Valve has the best physics ever designed (except maybe PacMan :) ). Anyway, It's a fun Idea, but I'm afraid the server really has no idea where the bullets are, and there is currently no event for teleport...

Alright, short update, I've 'finished' the programming for Merciless, Nonviolence and Surface to Air; (thanks a ton for the name, Spazzy, among your other great ideas), but I've yet to test them so they probably don't work yet. I realized that the Burrow Flag doesn't affect tanks who are above groun...

Re: How do you pronounce callsigns?

From the Hitchhiker's Guide? I say babe-ell, but being a fish that when you stick it up your ear feeds off brainwaves and translates any language for you, it could very well be babb-ull. Guess it depends on the dialect :) . I've always said BAB-ull, as in "The Tower of Babel" or the word ...

Re: The perfect map.

Eye candy is great, but for popular maps they come secondary to playability and layout. Indeed, the maps I have the most fun with are the ones that have been built with gameplay in mind, not aesthetics. I believe that at the core of every map, the floorplan is what matters most. :book: Every mapmak...

I love the ninja idea, McGee! Just a little Pythagorean Theorem and a couple of if/for statements... that'll be fun to try and earn. You know, I think we could really go around and do an ['x' number of kills with <insert bad flag here>] for every bad super flag (except maybe Colorblindness; Rogues h...

Yep, I meant "cited" (I am knig of typos). "Site" makes it sound like I am going to physically place you in the readme, doesn't it. :D Also, I like your idea of a capture honor for using every corner of the map (or even harder, circling the entire perimeter). I could use bz_getBZ...

Re: Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!

Right, it won't be ready until then (third quarter 2020?); the test plugin will just display messages in place of the score-setting. I want to have a server-ready plugin, full of functional Honors to deploy by the time it comes out, and I could probably track my debugging on a calendar if I tried. U...

Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!

I'm currently working on a fun little plugin called "Honors". It's designed for those crazy gag maps, the uncompetitive servers where no one gives a hoot about score. Remember those late arcade games that gave extra points based on "combo moves"? It's essentially the same idea; H...

Re: Physics for things like roads

I'm all for this idea. The current X-Y-Z linear acceleration makes some great highways, but it would add so much to be able to make stuff like mud stickier and asphalt faster. I don't think there's anyway this could possibly contribute negatively towards gameplay. Should there be a variable for turn...

Strakowski, what you're talking about isn't modifying the client, just changing the image files the client uses for the bullets. Oh, wow. Right you are, you can modify them post-compilation. I was changing the images before compiling the source. I'm going to take a short forum hiatus before I make ...
