Flags to encourage team work...
Last night I was trying to find people to buddy up with to try to cover each other and get some good crossfire action going, with little success. People just went out and started blasting with little regard for what their team mates were doing. I was wondering if people would be open to flags that r...

Re: In game advertising
Some games already have advertising in them. Be it crosses (religious marketing) or the map maker putting their name as part of the map. I would say, as long as the advertising fit the feel of the game, like bill boards in maps that look like cities, it would probably be fine. But if the ads distrac...

Area lights.
Right now, it appears there is an ambient light the permeates the world, when you play. I think it would be interesting to have spot lighting. Let's say you want a warehouse, like at the end of Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark, you would like well light main aisles, but the side aisles need to be bask...

Re: Steamroller Speed Factor
I suck with SR, I seem more likely to accidentally run over a team mate than an opponent. I usually ditch it as fast as I can for that reason.

Mortars...
This would, admittedly, be a hard weapon to use, but I think it would be an interesting experiment to have mortars, so you can lob shots over walls.

Building a better chicken...
I think it would be interesting to see a mod that let's a person build up their tank. When they get kills they get a benefit, like their tank goes fast or they get more shots, faster shots, more range, or jump higher. The trade off is, if they get shot, they go back to a basic tank. Which means the ...

Bump mapping for ricochet.
It would be nice to be able to load in a bump map for surfaces that would affect how shots bounce. Sometimes ricochet is a little too accurate... (Plus is would make it so lasers were not quite so over powering)

Re: Noise...
I lieu of noise, you can slowly turn, while repeatedly clicking the right mouse button. When someone roughly in front of you, their name will pop up (unless they have stealth). It's a nice trick to know, though some people will assume you are cheating because you can track them down so quickly.

Re: Camping should be endorsed
When I'm playing defensively, like protecting the base, I camp all the time. I wish I could convince one or two other people to camp with me, so we could get some good crossing lines of fire.

Can anyone recommend tutorials for map making?
I DL'd blender and the BZF plugin and started trying to make a map, but after a couple hours I was pretty frustrated trying to figure out how to move things around, figure out scale, etc.
A text tutorial would be good, a video (youtube?) one would be great.

Noise...
A night or two ago I was playing Mystic Valley and it occurred to me, it would be great if tanks made noise while moving, and moving through some things like brush would also make noise.

Line of sight radar.
A mod that I think would be fun would be to have radar be line of sight (still 36o degree view, though). This would make it easier to do ambushes.
Or, as an alternative, a wall type that blocks radar.

Re: Bubble Shield
I like the idea, but I would add that the shield flag should take multiple hits before failing. Or even better, make it last a certain amount of time, it is impervious, but you can't fire you gun while the shield is nor can you drop the flag. Essentially, you become a moving wall to protect your tea...

Crazy idea: A distributed map.
Have teleports that take you to a teleport on a different map. Imagine a meta-world tankers could wander and battle, and there would be warps that would take them to other maps, so you could emulate scale. And while it would make for interesting opportunities for interlocking maps, the biggest advan...

Is there a good ration for the amount of bandwidth needed per player when hosting?
I just got my FiOS connection 25Mb out and 15Mb in. How many players would that be good for?

Maybe not in the initial version, but if someone wanted to up the difficulty, you could have a world variable that would specify how many seconds someone had to hold the base to change it's color.

I like the idea as well, but I think you would need to divide the flags between offensive and defense, and you could only hold a maximum of one of each.

It's version 2.0.10, and I downloaded it from SourceForge.net. The file was bzflag-2.0.10.exe
