Well, take for example the speed detection. There are server configurations that check if the client tank's maximum speed is not violated. And it is not that seldom that client's get kicked from a server, because the server has identified a false positive. Another thing is the discrepancy between pa...

What's really needed is a completely authoritative server (which hopefully a lot of that is implemented in for 3.0). If you are talking about moving hit detection to the server, I am suspecting that the main thing it will do is shifting lag around...from a "that was through!" to a "I...

Just a silly question about LGPL/GPL. If I were to add/change code, and obfuscate the code I'd write, and then publicize the obfuscated code + compiled binaries, would that be in violation? Not that obfuscated code would make anything safer in any of the above regards, but I was just wondering... an...

This is NOT the way we want to go. The rules for the game are very well known. The best solution for us is to ensure that all input into the game state fits into those rules. This can be done with an authoritative server. The rules can only verify if the tank doesn't do things that the tank shouldn...

Still, would this mean that a tank explodes when a server sees a hit, meaning i could be exploding when I think i have dodged it?
Or will hit detection use lag unrolling for targeted tanks?

I am just thinking this may change the gameplay a lot.

Just a question.

The BZFlag 3.0 Wiki states:
Additional features are planed to be moved server side, including shot, hit, and death detection
does this mean that hit detection will/is moved to the server? what implications will this have regarding lag?

Those are two different leagues. There is the ducati league and there is the GU league. To be able to spawn on ducati servers you would have to post to the ducati league as explained by kierra: Requests to spawn on Dub 59999 are posted here: http://my.bzflag.org/league then click on forums and go to...

Personally, I think the way people type in games (i.e. hasty and full of abbreviations and spelling errors) I doubt you will get good results from a translation program.
The results will most times be incomprehensible.

But I guess its a good practice to try it.

Cant grasp you guys are forgetting ducati servers. ducati is 2 shots, ricochet, no jumping, ctf and no superflags. Is best place to learn all aspects of on-the-ground driving skills, which is a prerequisite to play well on jumping servers too. ducati is played mosttimes on dub.bzflag.org:5154. Equal...

I believe my Norton Internet Security (N.I.S.) did once give me a warning about spyware from bzflag, which I allowed. It probably just gave a warning for accessing the internet. Some firewalls provide a service to allow per application base access to the internet. so for each new application that a...

maybe a solution could be, that right when you get the "press i" message, that you are already on the position from where you will spawn. so you can time your spawning moment depending if the opportunity looks favourable. But highly probabel this will be missused by players, especially in ...

This is difficult, since i don't observe the problem myself. jumpiness can't be that bad, cause their bullets are always on target:) but did the fix in 2.0.3.b3 helped solve the problem for those that have reported it? i think it was sportchick. Could it be that it is related to having a speedy mous...

They say i am jumpy sometimes

Hello, I have the following problem. In ducati matches occasionally people complain about me beeing jumpy. When i check my lag stats, its always around 60 and about 6ms jitter, which is not a lot. I play on a D600 Dell laptop running Windows XP SP2. It has a dell logitech mouse and i use the correct...

People with linux have reported high frame rates, between 200-300. On windows and Mac it is usually much lower, between 50-100 average. You can try to reduce the colordepth in the options setting. Before I had between 30 and 100, now i have between 90 and 130. Most resolutionxcolordepth setting howe...

i have a complaint abot the burrow flag. when you get burrow your radar goes to the biggest size nad you cant change it. is it possible to make it so it is changeable its supposed to be like that, one of the bad things about burrow... yeah, i was never sure if burrow was a bad flag or a good flag.
