Re: Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!

Personally, I think it's a genius idea, and one that should definitely be at least given a go, seeing as there's such a keen developer behind it. :) Size Matters - kill a tiny tank with the Obesity flag Ghostbusters - Kill x zoned tanks with shockwave or superbullet (because this rarely happens in r...

Re: Maps I'd like to see hosted again

The majority of maps will transition to BZFlag 3.0 without requiring any changes. The only breaking change that I can think of right now is how dynamic colors are done. Which will actually break a whole load of maps - the link material generated when you /saveworld gives you one of the old dynamic ...

Re: It's not the fall that kills you - It's the sudden stop

This is amazing. The one thing I'm worried about is that often circular maps or maps with lots of texturing aren't popular or just aren't fun to play. But this is truly beautiful. Now 3.0 needs to be released. How many have been made? I know I've made at least two of them - and yes, they weren't th...

Aww... hope you get it back up as soon as possible! I just had a kernel failure on my Macintosh an hour ago, after a serious mess up in compiling BZFlag). I'm wiping my Hard Disk right now. Hope my backup has been working right. You normally would not need to wipe your hard drive because of...

Re: Area lights.

You can make a kind of 'fake' spot lighting effect by using a mesh with a gradient texture, but it looks a bit crap.

I agree that a lighting object would be very cool, with options as to the type of light (omni-directional, spot, etc.), and the colour.

Re: In game advertising

The game also does not have a big enough 'footfall' to be considered a reasonable advertising space. There are not enough players for it to be attractive to advertisers. I've looked into systems for putting adverts into maps during working on the Planet MoFo billboards - for a start, the way maps ar...

Spot on. The earth is a skybox that I made from some NASA images - and there is a moon: it's quite small though, as it's still quite far away from the earth. I tried to keep distances looking reasonably accurate.

Here's a video of what's going on.

Due to various reasons, I haven't worked on the map for a few weeks. However, new development will be going ahead in the coming weeks.

Just a word on the name: the Planet MoFo map's name is "The Passion"... You're perfectly allowed to call your map that too, but it might cause a bit of confusion...

Re: Server Variables (Measurements)

I reckon I can disprove you. Hope you can read it, I proved all the information on the shellshock site: that the height of the jump is about 19 (actually, it's closer to 18), that the length of a jump is about 100 (it's actually about 95), and that the time for the jump is 4 seconds (actually 3.8). ...

Very old idea.. and not possible currently. Don't jump to conclusions, joevano, I made a map like this a couple of years ago, called Something Wicked This Way Comes. It's completely self-contained; the different 'worlds' are screened off from each other, and connected by teleporters. http://my.bzfl...

Worked fine for me, I added this line to my config file. Pressing 'E' will toggle the gui on and off perfectly. Whatever key you choose, you should probably make sure it's not already being used for something else.

Code: Select all

bind E down "toggle noGUI"

Some people probably dont even know what lag and jitter are  Equally so with the over toggable things like FPS. Is some useful form of this realistic? We'd only want it, and more importantly someone will only make it, if its useful and not damaging for everyone to be running it. The FPS data ...

When I was at school we once ran a charity gaming event. We had BZFlag and Halo running on the 30ft screen in the Lecture Theatre. It was a bit too big though... easier to play on a small screen.

Very, very, awesomely, cool. I like the plasma ball, its a cool concept. You said something about spinning... are there spinning, non drive-through DI objects in 3.0? That would be nice. Very good map, hope you are able to complete sooner than anticipated :D . I use passable drawinfo to make things...

Re: It's not the fall that kills you - It's the sudden stop

Like the plazma balls when you touch it and all the strings move towards where your hand is? If so, very, very cool work. Is it possible to make that with 2.0.X bzw objects? or something new in 3.0.0? It's done with objects available in 2.0.x - although it does use some 3.0-specific dynamic colors....
