Re: Strange looking bulet

I'm having that exact situation when my client is minimized by another application popping up in the background.
Minimizing by F4 key works without any side effects.

Re: Advertising my server :)

I paid it with money. No matter what money, just money. If it was pocketmoney or savings ... I was in the lucky situation that I hadn't to account for my money much. Besides that, my server was and is like US$ 16 a month.

Re: Advertising my server :)

I was 16 when I rented my first server in a datacenter. There really is nothing bad about it (if you got the skills).

Re: Ideas for Image/Resource hosting site

Good plan, really. Check SWFUploader for a nice multi-file upload. Additionaly I'm totally for something that brings more organization for map makers into it (to prevent duplicates and find fitting textures), which would be the search. The metadata stuff would only make sense if it was searchable to...

http://my.bzflag.org/w/BZFS this article is a good point to start with when messing with servers for the first time.

Re: Bzworkbench on Linux (Ubuntu 10.10)

Before running make one usually run a script like "configure" or "autoconfig" to generate the configuration files for make. But this might not be applying to BZWB.

Re: Can't Reply...

If you're not seeing all those opportunities joevano showed you, it's most likely that you're not logged in or not logged in correctly. Try logging out (if you arn't already) and then logging back in. If youre still not seeing any of the reply elements I'd say that theres something wrong.

Re: Team tEaMlEsS

This sounds very interesting, but I see some problems. 1) I could think of players "switching" to Teamless so they wouldnt have to face the consequences in case of a loss (that much). 2) Team Teamless would have extremely vaarying skill in their matches because Teamless would have a lot of...

Re: Sprites?

In my understanding a sprite is a texture thats got multiple textures on it. Like four 500x500 textures on one 1000x1000 image or similar. Like the missile.png or explode1.png or explode2.png from BZFlag's data folder.

In case you are indeed referring to sprites, they are possible with the "texsize" option and using texturematrices.

Actually, it probably does. He's using the "hidden line" feature (which most users don't know how to do) :P So, how do we do this "Hidden Line" feature? Actually, I don't know if we could actually call it a "feature", as the end-user (aka. player) isn't supposed to mak...

Console filter script to filter /savemsgs

On request of a special person I quickly built a php script that allows the user to filter /savemsgs saved files for specific messages. It's tested to work with the english language translation but I do not guarantee proper functionality (it might swallow a line or two). It's useable at http://www.w...

Re: My first suggestion of the year....

Whilst that sounds interesting, there might be difficulties like:
  • Can the shooter get hit if he doesnt drive to stay inside the shockwave?
  • Would it be easy and fitting for BZFlag's gameplay to understand and quickly act with that enhancement?
So I predict that this is likely not going to happen.

Re: Play time

On a good day "Pandora" generates ~400 MiB traffic with an average of around 10-12 players at daytime. So in the unlikely event that your server is full all day 5 GB would be enough for like two weeks of hosting. Also check with http://my.bzflag.org/w/Server_Bandwidth (that allows you to c...

Re: Testing a server with more than one player...

Why wasn't what?
The server went on the list? - The might be an options block in the map file making it public.
The server wasnt accessible? - If you were running from home, did you check that this generally works?
Anything else? - You or your friend are probably doing it wrong.

As for the errors, well now I'm confused. Got the thing to work perfectly with my server test setup. Will go through the .conf file and look for something I may have missed adding to the options. Read those errors carefully. They are a typo, you typed "r oa tion" instead of "r ota ti...

I don't see why anyone is complaining about the theme at all. It might not be the most amazing artwork that you've seen in your life, but hey, it works and doesn't make you get eye cancer. Plus, it's unpaid, voluntary work. Plus you can choose between a handful of styles and eventually find the one ...

Re: Water waves.

The wave effect basically is a giant circular mesh with "wavy" surface made spinning around its center. If you then hide the center of that mesh you will have rough sea. Also make sure to have some mirror ground underneath it for more of an effect :)
