Sigh

Well, forget the provider that remotely 'hosts' my polls, since their site is down for more than 24 hours now. As a result I went through the effort to find and select a Perl script so I can just host it in my own comfortable and reliable cgi-bin. Try it out...it looks a bit different (but nicer, I ...

Links

This forum is definitely the place for checking all small news thingies, it's what I use it for too (and chit-chat). I do indeed only post bigger news on Shell Shock to prevent it from cluttering. Quite nice that way I think. Thanks for the broken link report Dervish. Thing is, I have my polls hoste...

Future of BZFlag

Since a few weeks I have a poll running on Shell Shock, which is dramatically called 'The Future of BZFlag'. All it asks is what you would like to see most in the next version of our little tank buster game. Interesting vote results so-far, since one of the things you can vote for is 'More Flags'. G...

There is a button called 'tutorials' that is of particular interest. Need a hammer? :bonk:

Linux too huh?

Linux too huh? That's the first time I hear about that. Looks like the NR bug is getting serious. Anyway, I read in the forums on Source Forge that Chestal (a programmer) has increased the priority on this bug. We're just gonna have to leave it to the smart guys! KnightMare: In case you wond...

Net or LAN

So what you guys basically are saying is that you have no problems running BZFS for WinXP in a LAN environment, but do not really play on the Internet. So just maybe...maybe...this bug only surfaces when playing Internet games? Afterall, there are more connection issues, lag and I don't know what el...

Always

As far as I know from others and my own experience, it does not matter at all if it is crowded or not. Just me and one other player is enough to crash the BZFS server if the other player leaves (1 out of 2 or 3 times it will crash). Using WindowsXP here, but as far as I know I have never heard from ...

Stability

To clarify, the stability problems under Windows only occur when you try to run a SERVER with BZFS. The game itself (BZFlag), runs like a dream :lol-old:

Pitty

That's a pitty, but thanks for letting us know :o

Maybe one of the other developers has a Windows machine and can do something and squash this bug?

Too bad I'm not into network programming.

Man pages at last

Cool, Windows users now have the man pages in the install! Tx programmers, real nice  Since the man pages now come with BZFlag 1.7g0 for every platform, I have removed the HTML versions I had on Shell Shock, since they now have become redundant. If you're looking for them, just check your bzf...

Bugged

I tested BZFS to see if the notorious "NR" bug under Windows 1.7g0 BZFS versions still exists, and unfortunately it is. Windows users will not be able to use BZFS, at least not for more than 10 minutes or so. It is not stable (hasn't been since 1.7e0). This bug has been reported at Source ...

Thanks Chestal

Thanks Chestal, I really appreciate you're looking into the BZFS Windows bug. And yes you're right, the bug is nice and neatly reported and can be found in the SF repositery. If it is not dealt with in the current release, since it is coming soon now, then may I suggest that the priority on this bug...

1.7e8

It's wonderful, especially the control we now have over the radar screen, scoresheet, etc is cool. I also like the way the server handles Team Killers. Great job programmers! The one thing I hope for most though I don't think is there, which is a bug fix for a major BZFS problem which dis-allows 60-...

1.7e8 was dead?

I thought 1.7e8 was dead and 1.7e7 was going to be the next thing, with some 1.7e8 features included?
