There is freeware that will do this for any service.

I use DynDNS but have acounts w/ no-ip as well. I scaned the domains for both and decided on "homelinux" which was offered by DynDNS. :lol-old:

...and if something happens to thier server I'd haveto pay for it?

I just run 8. If I go more then that, and 4 observing, then it starts to lag a bit. I run Cable w/ 256 up as well. It might just be my ISP though; Cable isnt the best thing to use for server because bandwidth is shared. :lol-old: I saw an article on hacking a cable conenction though; maybe it's poss...

Really, FC 3 runs great, but as for the difference between Windows and Linux, I couldn't see any difference in speed. I just use Linux more often for other things, so I'm there already. Me too. I sometimes play on Windows, but ONLY if I'm doing something else on my Linux box. Sometimes I switch if ...

If I had T1, I'd be running a server company off my box. I'd probably go get another one, dedicated, and use my personal computer as a secondary resource.

Oh, and I'd have some bandwidth for a couple servers on BZFlag; of course ;)

One problem I had was that you need a -publicaddr IP, or name. For some reason w/o it, it will not show up on the list server althoguh you can still connect to the IP if over the internet.

I got this once. This is how, I think, I fixed it.

A) I completely uninstalled it. Both my other rpm, and a make uninstall for the newest.
B) In FC3, I installed the programming packages for KDE and X Windows, as well as the general development packages. Not sure which one fixes the problem.

In Linux, everything is controlled by these configuration files. The OS, services, kernel, application, etc reads these files to determine how to behave. Most of these files are stored in /etc. For example, /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf is the configuration file for how the web server should act. FTP r...

I hear you can add scritps to $home/.kde/Autostart/ in this manner: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/xmms :lol-old: I dont know if I want to try /.../bzfs [commands] Would that work? I'm also tryign to start a couple other things...like music! I know that works th...

The latest version of BZFlag runs much faster. As I said in anouncements, I did not have to install 3D accell for it run fast. I know that in Fedora I have to run bzflag as root. If not it's slow and the sound is all choppy and horible. Maybe that'll help you in Debian. Of course, if you're runnign ...

Sometimes the sound is "stored" when other things are playing. Depending on the program. When I run XMMS, all my "log in, log out, sent message, recieved" etc just all go bling bling bling for an hour! :lol-old: I read someware that if the "buffer" (I think) is too big,...

Yes, you can just log into a shell as root and type nano -w /etc/fstab to add your line. I used to chmod 777 configfile :lol-old: to open configuration files! The easier, and indeed safer way is to just run a text editor as root...you get privs to all "root files." PS: To make shelling eas...

Er...recompile? Honestly, that's what i'd do. Sry that I cant help you.

Try running bzflag in a consol w/

-d -d -d, and -window. -window will make it windowed, of course, so you can watch the debug in your consol as you play. Post some of the output.

Yeah. I tried playing my music in the background only to find out that a) it sounds wierd and b) bzflag doesnt make any sounds. Compile it. Download the latest version and make it yourself. First, of course, run rpm -e bzflag.

./config
make
make install

Also, try runnign it as root. I know you're not supposed to run things as root, but it fixed sound and graphic issues for me.
