I have a gamepad, though I don't use it on BZFlag because it dosen't work correctly. It works fine for other games I play, though :/ It's a Logitech Dual Action or something like that. So, I always use the mouse. I have an external mouse for my laptop, though I do use the trackpad every hundred year...

Rain only lowers your framerate drastically if you have _rainDensity set too high. See the wiki. To texture rain fancylike, /set _rainType to snow, fatrain, frog,or anything else on the wiki except 'rain'. AFTER that, you /set _rainTexture. Or, you can do it the long way around and /set _useRainBillbo...

Typing
$ man patch
should probably give you a good idea on how to use it :)

Note that patches have to be applied to the BZFlag source code, and then it has to be compiled. So, it won't work if you are using binaries.

R, G, B, P for the respective bases,

This would be easy to do. Have flags sorted nicely in zones. A plugin would keep track of who had what flag. On spawn, automatically give them their flag unless they haven't chosen one yet. The flag-tracking for that tank would be erased on disconnect.

In fact, the tanks that Louman used are the 1.x versions, which are easily distinquisable from a 'real' tank.

Some people have asked for a model of the 2.x style of tanks, but this would be a better solution. It would probably be easy to code up too. Hey, I could almost even do it! :P

This for some reason gives me strange nightmares of Runescape.

Ignoring that, this would be possible. JeffM2501 has been messing with server-side bots, as many have said already. Don't know how far he is, but I think he has the interface working.

Maybe there is a way to allow the client to go only to certain servers? Many servers, such as Silvercat, norang, and Viper are heavily moderated and/or have chat filtering in place. I've rarely ever had problems with chat at these servers. Or, just tell your kids not to go on certain servers and tru...

Wide Screen Viewing Angle

I always hated playing on my laptop (wide screen format). I could never figure out why, BZFlag supports the wide screen resolution just fine and nothing was stretched or anything. But it seemed that I could never see things hit me, and I found out why. See the attached screenshot. Something is wrong...

This is a good idea. The really nice thing about it is that you can, after running your map through it, import it into Blender and your boxes are now fully editable like meshes! ENTRIELY OFF-TOPIC: You don't need to use a shareware or adware program like awicons, the GIMP supports exporting them. Tr...

I saw a screenshot from trepan about a month ago using a similar shader for a lighting effect on the bullets.

I'll be very impressed when ATI decides to release a decent driver for Linux that can handle these 'smartshaders'.

Wait a minute... coherent light? That means all the light goes straight out the barrel - we shouldn't be able to see the beam at all :) The reason it looks 'choppy' is because he used entirely polygons. The ones on the outer 'glow' abruptly change color. How about something like Gourald to make the ...

I like the one with lights - though you should add a frame to it like #2. Also, you see that the billboard is illuminated with lights, but why is it still so dim at night. Add emissive light to the material of the canvas so it always looks bright and illuminated, even at night.

Isn't this a terribly narrow poll? He should be in the Hall of Fame because of his turnaround. By the way, he really hates when people bring him up, because there were more people involved in his plot, and they DIDN'T come back. They are the ones who should be on the 'wall of shame', if there even w...
