Re: How do you make a textured object drive through?
You can make mesh pyramids and mesh boxes. I just looked before posting this. Isn't this your app Blast? You should know what you implemented into your own app. BZWorkbench is not Blast's. It was mainly coded by jude as part of GSoC, and is still in ongoing development by whomever wants to work on ...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
e.s. posthumus Absolute Genius. Boresnake, I couldn't agree more. Until about 6 months ago, I had never listened to vinyls - but just before I left for university, my dad gave me his vinyl collection. It amazes me how rich and warm it sounds. Even though the bitrate of CDs supposedly gives a high e...

Re: BZFlag IRC ~bzfrag command
It would be useful for administration to have the bot announce when a report is filed, when a /poll is called, if a /poll wins or not, and when /password attempts are made. Lots of server admins hang out on their IRC channel and wait for people to find them to deal with cheaters and the like = so th...

Re: Map files?
A lot of the bzflag world files from pre-2.0 were .map files. They're normally exactly the same as .bzw. Just change it yourself and see if it loads.
My guess is that this was before anybody had agreed on '.bzw' as a standard extension.

They are brilliant live, I've seen them twice now. The second time was a couple of weeks after MJ died, and Chris Martin played Billie Jean. It was pure genius.Strakowski wrote:Ah, a fellow Coldplay fan. Saw them in concert this summer. Breathtaking.

Re: Gaming ISP in UK
Anything but Virgin. We were with them for a while, and it really, really sucked. Poor internet, poor customer service, traffic throttling. Try Be Unlimited, or Demon. I've had good experiences with both those providers. Be Unlimited will give you ADSL2+ cheaper than most other ISPs, (if you're in a...

Re: 3.0....
Personally, I would like to see BZFlag become a little more like Tron: darker with neon edges and grids. Also, more epic explosions would be awesome. I know no one cares, but it would still be great. Andy The mapping tools for BZFlag are versatile that enough you could make a map that looks like Tr...

Re: Team Voice Chat
As far as Mumble is concerned, I believe that BZFlag 3.0 will have support for positional sound - which means that on mumble, chat will be panned so that whoever is talking will sound as though they are talking from their tank in game.

Re: Ground XYZ and scale issues
For the record: Wings3D and blender both use the Y axis as the vertical up axis, whereas BZFlag uses Z . This is solved by simply switching the coordinates for the Y and Z axes when exporting. When you export from Wings or Blender, there are options to automatically 'Flip Y and Z axes' Bear in mind ...

You cant have different-sized shockwaves i think he means creating multiple WW each with an increasing _shockIn/OutRadius to give the effect of a single SW getting bigger and bigger. Blast understood exactly what you said and his answer still stands. Shockwaves are ONE size for the entire map. Worl...

You don't HAVE to register, but why not? You get a whole load of perks, including the ones you mentioned. You need to be registered to play in pretty much all the leagues, other players can contact you via the PM system, you can be whitelisted from incorrect bans, you get access to these forums - a ...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
Anything that's a good tune: I like a lot of rock, alternative and indie, which is what takes up about 60% of my library - right through from the 60s to current. I like a lot of dance music too, from funky house to ambient stuff. Bit of metal, some jazz and funk, one pop-latin band (check out The Ca...

Or if an automatic system was put in place, it would follow that it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to have the option to send an admin message rather than kick/ban built in.The Purple Panzer wrote:None of these objections are fatal to an automatic mechanism, but wouldn't it be simpler to just start with messages?

Re: Teleporter Help
You can't drive through a tele on the ground to a tele on a mesh, or any other 2.0 object. It's just a quirk of 2.0 that I believe is fixed in 3.0. There are workarounds - such as placing the tele on the ground on top of a really really thin box - but I've never got that to work right. I suggest you...

Re: Quick help with setting up a ad-hoc network for BZFlag.
If you have a home LAN, - for example if you connect to a wireless router to connect to the internet - so long as both computers are connected to the router you should be able to connect from one to a bzflag server running on the other. Just type the IP address of the computer the server is running ...

Most of the best maps aren't focused on fighting, like the mazes or Loumans. Art > War. Otherwise, flags seem to be more bother than they are worth. Jumping needs skill. Rico needs skill. Pyrs and corners need skill. You need a lot of deflectors but little shielding. And CTF is worth trying, less f...
