Firstly: Regarding bots (and the list server), learner's word goes. The development team (as far as posts in this thread, that means learner, l4m3r, and me) run the list server at our discretion. Generic information (i.e. not directed specifically at anyone in this thread): High bot counts on public...

You don't. Quick and simple, right? :) Generally global groups are marked "hidden," so only the people in the group can see the description anyway. If you really need a description, then you probably didn't pick a good enough group name. The board administrators use the description field t...

When you get done with that step, let me know.

Yes, the name of the field should probably be changed.

There was a proposal a while back to remove it altogether (which was successfully Rikered even, iirc), but the fact is that it IS used as a freeform text field for plenty of useful purposes (team tags/signatures/what have you).

See RubberTank (RT) at http://my.bzflag.org/w/Flag_Ideas Personally I don't agree with the "just use shield" evaluation; particularly if the ricochet angle is controllable with practice, the flag fits very nicely into the "easy to learn, difficult to master" category. Also note t...

Actually the screenshots were taken in "WZFlag," hence the lack of editing artifacts. Basically a modified Warzone screenshot was taken, and rendered onto a textured quad beneath the wzflag (i.e. bzflag with the name changed and this screenshot-faking capability added) HUD, with potentiall...

Just to answer a few questions here: Yes, it really is happening. The announcement was a bit premature, but the Warzone people wanted to have it coincide with their 2.0.6 release. Gran, as far as game types, we have a bit of design work left to do. Siege, Team FFA, and FFA are the styles we have wor...

they are in SGI RGB format. however your system is setup to handle those is up to you. bzflag will not read that format anymore. you would have to convert them. MediaFile still reads SGI files just fine (and we still build the SGIImageFile code), so you just have to convince BZFlag to ask for them....

You can crosscompile to windows without using SDL, if you have the right DirectX files; our mingw build system is pretty complete.

And there's nothing terribly wrong with an SDL build on windows anyway, it's just around 10% slower and has more limited joystick support.

I searched, but I didn't see anything like this proposed. Good idea, eh? It is an excellent idea, and one that will probably be implemented sometime. Video card model numbers are systematic. Both manufacturers use the same system, but the numbers are not comparable between them. Higher series numbers do not mean the card is faster (i.e. the GeForce 7300 is much slower than the GeForce 6800). A higher series number in the same price bracket will u...

There is a server variable (_explodeTime) that can be modified to reduce or increase the respawn delay.

And if you get bored in the five seconds that that takes by default, perhaps you should consider doing something to increase your attention span :)
