can't say I would be any help, but a friend has dual monitors and IRC goes in and disables monitor #2 somehow thru display properties/graphic card settings (nvidia) - mind you it is a dual head graphics card. Suppose it all depends on what your card offers in the area of graphic settings... Just OTH...

I have no idea why it happens to me - but no matter what version of linux I use, that port 53 issue seems to always get me. Maybe I am installing named, bind or a DNS server (all the same right?) by mistake and actually do not need it, thus all that stuff in my logs. Thanks for taking the time to ch...

Re: problems hosting 1.9.3 server
Btw., you can use +f GM{5} syntax for multipel flags of the same type. Depending on your shell, you'l have to put that into quotes. Thanks SGI & Chestal, have made those changes, just waiting on 1.9.4 to make sure it works. No errors are being reported, just can't play on the server...then agai...

problems hosting 1.9.3 server
Has anything changed since 1.7g2? Am attempting to use the Field and Stream map (possibly cannot use old maps?) and did notice that apparently we need to specify which interface to use (-i) Here is the output when I run bzfs; [steve@ampster bzflag]$ ./FieldandStream using speed autokick tolerance of...

About the respawn time: Were you playing on different servers? In the new version the respawn time is a parameter that can be changed by the server admin. The default value is 5 seconds, and I think that I set it to 1 second on glasstowers.homelinux.net:20000 when I was playing with the settings. T...

Windows compared to Linux "bug"?
Ok, this morning I was finally able to install 1.9.3 into MD Linux (thanks again larsl) and found something different between the Windows build and Linux RPM. After your tank gets blown up - your visual "leftovers" - the time it takes from after being blown up to being able to respawn - is...

Knightmare, thanks for the info...I did try to install 3dmesa and had error msgs as well with that. I switched frm RH to MD awhile back - might be time to check it out once again! Pat, larsl, thanks alot for the rpm! I ended up booting up win2000 and tested the win exe....Super! Couple of those flag...

Cool, can't wait for the rpm's

no luck still, will wait for rpm's
larsl, Fiber and Pat, Thanks for the help tonight... I re-tried larsl suggestion and ran ./configure and then make and things went better than the first time. First time running make, it just "looped" and kept doing the same thing over and over. About 20 or so lines (I know, lame response)...

tanks for the clue!
I have never had good luck (first, second maybe third time) with cvs. Fiber helped me out a revision or two ago with this. Seems I must not be installing something which is needed. Still trying though!

linux distro recomendations (for installing bz)
ok, Everytime a new release of BzFlag comes out, I end up having to wait for somebody to create mdk.rpm's for Mandrake. As usual, this new (yes I know, not an actual release) version of Bz doesn't install... The error msg's I am getting this time around don't appear to have anything to do with that ...

When gm's are around, by all means...even give an st an escort to the gm campers. on that server there are no gm's - but I guess really what I am looking at is when all of a sudden an st appears near by and you have seconds, no less than that - to come up with a solution to save yourself and you may...

Sooooo, Lets say you are on any team or even a rogue and you spot somebody who is either on another team or another rogue on radar nearby. You proceed to attack the target even though you have no clear line of sight to that target - you end up (in this example) jumping over a wall on your final appr...

I had found something on the net awhile back, that had the complete instructions for removing MS Messenger off a MS system. Seems the newer versions of Win (XP, 2000 and ME possibly) force MS Messenger to always connect to the web - and force it to stay installed. Not too sure if that is what is bug...
