You mean a dual-core processor? I've been playing on one for about 1 1/2 years now, haven't noticed a thing. AMD 4400+ CPU and Kubuntu Linux OS. I really don't see how that would change things at all. It's just a second processor stacked on top. Maybe we're talking about something else.

Honestly, much as I howl about IE, I can't expect people to switch. Especially by making a site that doesn't work on IE. Many of the people who use IE are people who just double click on the nice friendly icon on their desktop that says "Internet". If your design doesn't work on IE, these ...

Good point. I usually would do that on the PHP end, but yes, you totally could do that with javascript.

This would be dead easy if it wasn't for Internet Explorer 6 and older IEs. All you'd have to do is put this in your stylesheet: li {height:1.3em;display:block; overflow:hidden} li:hover {height: auto;} But since you have to worry about people using IE6, try to adapt the following: <!DOCTYPE html PU...

Yes, BZEdit won't work on Linux. Tried it under WINE some time last year, and it started, but had a ton of problems. After some tinkering, I got BZFed compiled and working just fine. You can find a little bit of info at http://sourceforge.net/projects/bzfed/ Please note that this was last updated in...

So you highlight the find a server option, hit enter, and it gives you a list. You highlight one and hit enter. You then get the error, right? (just making sure you're doing the normal thing) Are you behind a firewall? If you are, that's good, but sometimes, you need to grant specific access to bzfl...

Personally, I'd stay away from scenarios where tanks are running over innocent/helpless people, but I guess it depends upon how a big a scene you're trying to make.

Overall, I think the idea of recreating historical battles has a ton of possibilities. Just WWII alone has plenty to work with.

I suggest you read this article before you ever post a question to a forum again: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html The reason you got a snarky answer is because it looks like you never did ANY research at all. At least Win XP gave you some advice. You shouldn't need the direct link...

I'd suggest making a folder inside of My Documents that is strictly for bzflag. If you ever get around to making player groups, logs, report files, help files, etc. they would all go here too.

Yeah, your sig area is rather overwhelming. Personally, I only read the userbars if it has something really interesting in it, and only if there is one or two of them. Sitting here at the bottom of the page and typing this in, I remember that you have a GIMP userbar, and a SSH userbar (secure shell ...

I play ET, there is menu music and I detest it. I really do NOT see why people would prefer to listen to some little tune when playing compared to whatever they like from their own collection... You don't have to understand. If it were introduced properly, the music volume would be variable, includ...

If you open up your client in Unreal Tournament, Quake, Wolfenstein, etc, they all have one thing in common - music. Yes, you can turn it off. I can't imagine a commercial game not having a good theme. Why not BZ? Sure, somebody would have to get around to coding it, and it's not of the highest prio...

PETER: if you want to know stuff about how to run a server, have a look at and read through in its entirety the bzflag wiki. Now if we could only implement downloadable flag images - sort of like how map textures are set up, the server owners could make custom flags and everyone would be able to see them.

You really could make them be anything, like having the league logo on the team flags.

Funny, I was just reading about a tiny little program that hides the mouse when you aren't using it. Haven't tried it out yet, but maybe it could be useful if you're a keyboard player. It's only for X11 (Linux/BSD) but maybe the Windows/Mac crowd has something similar?

Here's a generic Ducati style configuration file. Please note that you'll need to tweak it for your own purposes before you use it to host a server. So your client would have:

The "out the window view" up top, the radar to the left side, a column immediately after that that has ONLY chat text. A THIRD column after that that has everything or the usual shift+f1-4 options.
