Made a Joystick/Mouse patch to improve control

For those players who compile from source, and/or the devs ;) ... I just resumed my first attempt at modding from a while ago. I don't even think I can call it a mod since it's just a dozen extra lines of code. Anyway, it: allows 12 joystick buttons instead of the previous hard coded limit of 10 fix...

Re: Problems with sound

When the sound plays, it seems as its really slow, and scratchy. SO i went into the sound settings, seeing nothign in the driver, and device. So i found the driver and the location of my sound driver. driver: snd-via82xx device: /dev/dsp I have a VIA82xx like you, and run Linux. Normally, if anothe...

The single quotes almost work, It logs into the server and straight back out again with a message about using qutes in a username. This is what I currently have: "C:\Program Files\BZFlag2.0.4\bzflag.exe" 'Half Track'@10.0.0.4 I believe the single quotes force the shell to accept it as one...

I don't think there is a reliable method of signing clients that still allows people to compile the code themselves. But even if one could be found, doesn't that negate the entire purpose of open source software? I want to be able to modify the user-interface or input code without having to alert de...

Anyone can edit, on the HONOR system? Are you mad? This is BZFlag; we deal with trolls and spammers and cheaters and tkers daily. This feature will not go unabused.

Although I do love the concept.

I like the prospect of being able to communicate with teammates without taking my hand off the controls to type. But I'm not sure a horn is the best way - at least, not by itself. What if you were able to use identify to target a player and then press a button to send a signal to his HUD? One of BZ'...

More than you'd expect. I don't know the exact amount. Even though bzflag clients do their own calculations, making bzfs a pretty non-intensive process, they forward data to each other not directly but through the server.

Explode time is for a server owner to decide how long a player should be forced to wait before spawning. It should be up to the client what sort of graphical effect, if any, is displayed upon death and during the wait period - just as the client can turn off mirror and rain effects, and control a my...

Gone?

It does crash on my machine - or rather, the sound still works and as far as I can tell I am still connected, but my graphics go beserk. Sometimes they dissappear, sometimes they flicker.

The typically five second long jump that occurs upon death and accompanies the shattered screen that may obscure parts of the console. Sometimes it's just *not* a good idea to add insult to injury. Like when my burning software craps out on me, and in addition to ruining a blank disk, it concludes b...

I can't believe so many are opposed to this. BZFlag deaths are exceptionally irritating - if it were up to me, the spawning algorithms would be improved, no shot fired before you spawn would harm you, and there would be an option to turn off the death-jump (really, between the death jump and the fla...

Bah, I already had all the required packages installed, I just didn't bother to query to see what was in the slang rpm. It had a library file that needed a symlink to be detected. I'm back in business. :)

I had the same problem - I'm curious, what was the issue? Was it a new library dependency that has since been removed, or a typo in preparing a make input file? I found that this "slang" thing was installed on my system, but not the lib or devel versions.

Of all the flags mentioned here, I really believe MG is the most useless. A slight standard range extention might help it a lot.

Re: pass

I wouldn't hit the reset, unless you get in deep doo-doo. Your ISP may not like that at all. Most of them say to call before you do. Don't even bother to reset it, once your in. There's no real reason to, unless it's on a public LAN. . Wha? Why would the ISP care what you do with your own router? I...

What if SR reduced your angular velocity while increasing your linear speed and giving you linear momentum? That way you could sort of ram people. It'd be more steam-roller-ish, but of course it'd destroy the current meaning of the flag.

My short idea - a generally open map with a fortress of some sort in the center. The fort could be defended by one team of about 4 players, and the other teams would try to dethrone them. The better flags would spawn more often within the fort.
