Re: bzexcess:5156
I would cast my vote strongly in favor of this server becoming official. Lag times seem favorable and the server has proven consistent. Blast is also a trusted bzflag developer and server owner, and could provide a good home for an official GU match server. Ya, I can only second that. And on top of...

GU League BZWiki Article
Hey y'all, I was browsing the BZWiki today and saw the http://my.bzflag.org/w/GU_League only had about 5 lines of info on it. I decided to spend the next couple hours writing everything I could think of down. It's my first BZWiki article, so it's pretty messy and so on. Just wanted to know what you ...

Seriously, just search the forums. There have got to be at least a dozen threads with topics with hints and advice.

The server is located in Ohio, actually. Oh, that's right. Guess MoFo's datacenter is in Florida or something.. Hehe, nope, mofo is in Ohio too. Same datacenter. ;) http://xlhost.com/datacenter.php But anyway, glad to hear the lag is low. Ok..getting embarrassing. It was BZFlagr, right?! :P

heya, wanted to let you all know that blast has been so kind to set up a new US - HiX server for us. I asked him if he could do it, because I noticed that euros had pretty good lag there (120-140ms) and thought it might become a better solution for the US/Euro matches. He's also said that he'd set u...

Re: Warfare- Tunnel ~ by Metroid Prime
I can't, Im on a mac and you cant press anything while playing to get it to capture the screen, I even tried filming myself playing. If you know a way to, then please tell me, I want to have screenshots up there. Use the command-combo 'apple (cmd) + shift + 3) to take a screenshot at any time under...

Re: Very fast shooting
You can't say that the q w e mapping is simply the best. I agree that having three keys assigned to shooting is very practical, but doesn't necessarily have to be the best. A lot of good players mainly use the scroll wheel to shoot. Depending on mouse, you can get great spreads by using the wheel. S...

Re: trouble telling what height the shot coming at you is.
First off, don't camp. :p Now, there is a setting that can help judge the shot height better. It's located in Options -> GUI Settings -> Colored shots on radar -> ON (it's the 8th setting from the top). Home that helps. How would this help determine the height of the shots? Aren't all shots rendere...

Yes, it's a very useful strategy, used on the HiX map.tobylane wrote:I'm really not sure what I'm learning here. Dropping a flag in a tele, up against it or in mid jump, causes the flag to fly to the middle of the world?

Re: GU Style:Annual Veterans vs. Rookies
Well, we have plenty of really cool ideas now. Why don't we just group up sometime on a weekend and make some teams? :D This doesn't have to be such a big thing with months of announcing and arranging. We could just try a couple of things. Windows vs. OS X / Linux, Admins vs Humans, etc. and just se...

There are a lot less keyboard players than mouse players. I don't there are even 30 active keyboarders in the league. Would be hard to make teams..

Re: GU Style:Annual Veterans vs. Rookies
Smoooth: Don't get me wrong here. I'm not against having tournaments like these and I agree that they do raise a certain sense of fun and morale in the league, that might have been lost these last couple of weeks. BUT, a lot of players that make this league entertaining have been very inactive latel...

Re: Official league match server..
Seeing as this would only make matches with australian vs australian easier, I think it's up to, to find a reliable server that can be used. It won't change things lag wise, if you're playing American or European teams, because the lag will just be on their side and you won't be able to kill them an...

Re: GU Style:Annual Veterans vs. Rookies
You also haven't said if you want it to be Euro vs American or all players put into the Rookie/Veteran groups, I'm assuming the latter. You say that how we are going to determine Rookies and Veterans in undecided. How are you going to divide players? It can't be done by their date of joining, becaus...

Re: Looking for the best mouse for BZflag
To add to what IDO posted. Those kind of mice are pretty popular in the GU-league. It's a whole other way of playing and has an entirely different feel to it compared to your every-day mouse. You really just need to visit a good computer electronics store and ask if you could try some out. Even if m...

Re: GU Style:Annual Veterans vs. Rookies
Let me remind you, that the RikerCup was just held about two months ago. Which effectively means that most players aren't that interested in another big event. A big part of the american players, who were essential in organizing the RikerCup have been inactive for over a month now, busy with work an...

Re: Lagstats in replays
A great trait our admins have is COMMON SENSE. Honestly you have no chance to know. Most decisions are kept secret and when a ban is issued for example it may not be announced or the exact reasons are not revealed to the public. I have a very different opinion regarding the definition of a cheat. A...
