Re: Give Genocide a radius

I think Genocide is fine the way it is. I do understand the frustration though. Especially when you see the same teammate being killed 3 times in a row as they kamikaze attack the Geno-holder. If I have Geno, then I know I need to conserve my shots and so I am at great risk of being shot. Also I hav...

Re: 2.4.0 "cannot load texture" errors

Deleting the "/usr/local/share/bzflag/" folder did the trick.
Thx.

Flag indicators for thief

Can I suggest the all team flags indicators be shown when holding the thief flag?
It's in keeping with the flag's use and would make it more useful when there is no radar.

The calendar says that this will take place on a Ducati server, but jumping is not allowed. Are we turning on jumping for the occasion?
A 21 gun salute might also be fitting.

Re: Surftank (in memoriam)

It is very sad news indeed to hear that we have lost Surftank. My thoughts go to his family and friends. Even though we only got to know him in such a small way here, his passing has still managed to leave quite a void in our BZWorld. The burden must be unbearable for those that actually knew him in...

I just tried using "/localset hideRadarViewLines 1" to see the effect. I think I prefer it with the lines.

It was probably commented out intentionally to encourage more skill.
Be careful not to use this modified client in league matches as it will be considered cheating.

Re: admin client

A major new release will mean that all existing cheat clients will be null and void. Of course it will be easy enough to build another one, but many people who use cheat clients just got a copy of it and do not have the skills to build another one. I doubt the next "major" release will do...

Re: admin client

I don't think JeffM is saying that it will never happen. He is trying to get developers focused on getting the next release ready. Any diversion from that task would need to be for a very good reason. Given that any work done on cheat detection will be obsolete as soon as the newer version is comple...

Re: admin client

Any policing clients that are in use will probably never be released.
In most cases, the most they can do is raise suspicions and if they were released then it would be easy to modify your client to avoid detection.

If the GM made a sound like a sonar ping after the initial warning, it would increase the excitement as it approaches (and the relief as it sails harmlessly by).

Re: On or off buildings

Being on the ground is more fun. More to do. More possibilities.
There needs to be book flag for campers so that they can read something while they wait for somebody else to put themselves in harm's way.
Fun is where it's at for me.
I vote floor every time. (even at the expense of my score)

That's why matches are recorded. If there's a dispute, then the logs/recording will be checked.
So yes, there is a ref at every match, just not in real-time.

Re: Rule change for planned substitutions

Planned subs were used regularly when training new members. New members played first 15 mins with experienced player giving them advice in PM. Then experienced player plays last 15 mins and new player learns by watching advice put into practice. This was usually announced before beginning the match....

Re: Rule change for planned substitutions

Well the rule-change is made. Thanks blast. Regarding what happens re cancelling/forfeiting/postponing, since matches are entered by Refs, I think it's OK to let the Ref decide in each case. If it's 6-0 with five minutes to go, then recording a win is the appropriate response. If there is a dispute,...

Re: Rule change for planned substitutions

Adding players requires consensus with all participating players.
Substituting involves removing a player and adding a player, so it's already catered for in the rules.
If a new player enters the match, even as a sub, then there needs to be consensus.

Re: The favorite servers list

There already is a favourites list. When you add a server to your favourites, it appears as orange instead of white. You then choose between which list to be shown by pressing "f". It would be a nice addition however, if these favourites always appeared on top and were shown, even when not...
