Re: Launch and cursor issues
If you run Gnome on Xorg instead of Wayland the cursor shows up. Not ideal, but it's at least a workaround for now. From the computer's login screen, click on your user name, and then in the bottom right click on the gear and pick Gnome on Xorg. I didn't see the launch problem here. I'm not sure whi...

It is supposed to always show up. Is it not normal for it to be hidden.

Re: text flicker on intel graphics
I replicated the problem on both an Intel HD 4000 (in an i7-3770) running Debian 10 and on a Radeon RX 570 running Debian 11.

Our IRC chat channels have moved from Freenode to Libera.Chat
We have had chat rooms on the Freenode IRC network since at least early 2002. On May 19th, 2021, due to a disagreement/dispute regarding management of the network, about 20 to 30 Freenode volunteer staff members resigned. Some of them went on to create a new IRC network called Libera.Chat. Since the...

Re: player ID in score question
Some keys, like F2, are hard-coded.

You can also leave Jump While Typing turned on and use F2 as the completion key.

Re: player ID in score question
My recommendation is to not use it for kicks/bans as it's easy to kick/ban the wrong person.

Re: player ID in score question
It can be used when issuing bans or kicks, but because the numbers get reused if a player leaves and someone else joins (or simply because they're easy to type wrong), it can lead to kicking/banning the wrong player. It is tied to having either the PLAYERLIST permission or having the admin status (t...

Re: Global login fails and no server list
Sounds like you might be having more general networking issues if you're having trouble search for or installing software.

Re: Global login fails and no server list
Flatpak does not use dnf or RPMs. It a separate software distribution method that works the same across distributions.

Re: Global login fails and no server list
Try this from a terminal (since we use libcurl to talk to the server list):
If that also works, make sure the game is closed and then try renaming your configuration directory and then running the game again:
Code: Select all
curl https://my.bzflag.org/db/?action=LIST
Code: Select all
mv ~/.bzf ~/.bzf.bak

Re: Global login fails and no server list
If you're not even getting a server list, then your client is having trouble communicating with our main server. Try accessing the server list in a browser to see if that also fails or is unreliable. https://my.bzflag.org/db/?action=LIST

Re: Bots...???
It could be done, but not without some programming. One option would be to write a bzfs plugin that controls the automatic team selection. Another option would be modifying the client to adjust what team it joins the bots to.

From the second link:
Worth trying.I was able to fix all of my issues by switching to PCI-E Gen 3 inside my BIOS. If anyone else is or has experienced any of these issues try switching to Gen 3.

Re: Stutter/Jutter
Do other games work fine? Have you tried any other games that use OpenGL? Have you tried with Rage Mode turned on/off and with Smart Memory Access turned on/off? I don't have a system close in specs to yours. I threw a Radeon RX 570 into my Windows 10 1909 PC but that worked fine. I'm current updati...

Re: Stutter/Jutter
When you're talking about stutter/jitter, are you meaning the graphics overall are not smooth? Or is this specifically about the network quality (as in, your movement is smooth, but other tanks are jumping around or you're seeing high numbers for packet loss or jitter in the /lagstats output)?

Re: Stutter/Jutter
Are you playing over WiFi? WiFi can add network jitter, though I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about.
