Well it is running... the server really needs an administrative presence.

Re: New Router and New Lag Issues

Most servers are in the US... the only thing that could possibly help is moving closer to the US. It takes a long time for a packet to travel half way around the world and back. There are some Australian and European servers that likely would perform better for you.

I was stating that if you asked him, I would GUESS he would grant you permission.
I would guess not... he is pretty protective of those maps. Many have asked him in the past.

Re: New Router and New Lag Issues

If you are playing over wireless make sure that the driver for your PC for your wireless card is up to date. And also make sure you are running the latest version of ios on your router.

Trying to figure this out...

I see no bans for your ip address, callsign, or host. Does this only affect bzflag3.norang.ca and 1purplepanzer.com? Or does it affect other servers as well?

Re: This is me.

The project is BZFlag, who runs these forums. Blast and I (as well as a few others) are the forum admins. We enforce the rules set by the BZFlag project for these forums. By not following the rules for use of these forums, nor listening to the admins when you break the rules (and actually telling us...

Re: This is me.

Using these forums is a privilege not a right. You had bad contact with the project, not just me or blast. The project owns these servers and provides these services (forums, list server, etc). We trust everyone at first. You were given ample warning about the rules and what you were doing wrong but...

You need to download and compile from source for the time being. 2.0.x is what is in the debian/ubuntu repos and our current version is 2.4.2 .

Because it was written in 1992... and java first appeared in 1995. And java wasn't what it is today when it first appeared anyway.

You change your username because if you used your other one no one would put up with you... now that the connection is made, they will not put up with you. Your reputation online within a community is important if you want to stick around.

Re: Ubuntu Update to new version

Sorry for the necrobump but I found this really quick and easy to install the latest 2.4 version on Ubuntu 12.04 and possibly other distros : Install the repository GPG key: # wget -q -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add - Add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.li...

Yes, but it cannot be EXACTLY defined so that it can enforced in all situations for all people. This is where admins earn their keep. Rules that define "vauge" concepts are for the admin to determine, that is what they are there for and have been chosen for their ability to do so. If someo...

My initial guess with no other evidence would be that it is a video driver issue. Apple is notorious for having poor video drivers when releasing new equipment.

While I am not a GU Admin, I would like to share some thoughts on the warn/repeat/ban progression. As an admin on public servers we see the ban progression complaint all of the time as well. The people who we see this complaint from tend to be those who know what they are doing is wrong (banned/warn...

I am not aware of any residential DSL/cable service that allows you to host game servers. Business class DSL/Cable may let you host servers but it is more expensive. You will need to read their terms of service.

Re: Server name is blank

You will probably also want to use a dynamic DNS service and get a domain name. That way you won't have to get a public key everyday... your key should be attached to your hostname. You also would need to set up port forwarding on your router and open ports in your windows firewall and make sure tha...

I personally have no reason not to like blue. I have my radar set to white bullets. But, the tanks are blue and red so, I can tell who shot that bullet. It is very helpful, at the same Time confusing because I sometimes dodge bullets that were shot by my own teammate. Their issue is not "likin...
