Re: BZFlag on Macbook
If you are able to, please try the build from http://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=18428 and let me know if it is any better. I have had one user tell me that the framerate on their Intel HD 4000 improved with this build. Hi Constitution: Long time. I tried this version on both a MacBo...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
e.s. posthumus Absolute Genius. Boresnake, I couldn't agree more. Until about 6 months ago, I had never listened to vinyls - but just before I left for university, my dad gave me his vinyl collection. It amazes me how rich and warm it sounds. Even though the bitrate of CDs supposedly gives a high e...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
With a good table, arm, cartridge, and phono stage, vinyl just gets even better. The clicks and pops that some people hear is usually just dirt on the records, and with a good cleaning, LPs can be dead quiet.

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
I am very serious about two channel audio, and I usually listen to music in the background while I play bzf. I like alternative pop, rock, soul, jazz, and alternative folk, although I usually listen to Led Zepplin, The Who, or other rock bands when I play bzf. When I am not playing bzf, female singe...

Re: BZFlag has become less fun
nice cool lyrics there. The lyrics are from The Black League. Since we were talking "leagues," I was attempting to keep my lyrical quote within the "league" theme. (I had to google "league" and "lyrics" and "heavy metal," taking several seconds of i...

a contingent of unpleasant, over-ambitious, whining players. ... they seem to be drawn to the leagues these days. ... i find the typical n00b you meet on public servers to be much more tolerable than those types. * Notwithstanding the possibility of encountering such players on a league server, the...

Re: BZFlag has become less fun
I don't think the maps make the game, although there are a few maps on which I don't play. I think that the players that make the game. As the years pass, I continue to try to play better, although there are a lot of players whose skill seems to surpass mine after they have only been playing for a f...

Re: Your BZFlag Hero/Master
Green is my progressive heavy metal band hero, in addition to being my bzf hero, as I stated several pages ago. edited to correct musical genre From a haze came a rage of thunder, Distant signs of darkness on the way, Fading cries scream of pain and hunger, But in the night the light will guide your...

Re: old player thoughts on new players
There are argumentative, impulsive, rude, and otherwise unpleasant players within and without the league. The league administrators require good sportsmanship, and while there are many members that model good behavior for other members, the administrators have limited control over members' politenes...

i have a little objection to bore's very flattering comment though. i may be funny and pwnage most of the time (which also depend on my mood or level of caffeine intake), but there are definitely nicer players out there. OK, Dr. Manalishi, after reconsideration, you are correct; you are not the nic...

Are we only supposed to acknowledge the players from the six players listed in the original post? There are many great players, and there are many players that have influenced me. From the six players listed, I know Orbit, Lil Dog, and Green. Orbit is the greatest of GU players, and he is patient, f...

Re: image files don't download
What's the address of a server where you had problems? One thing you could try is clearing out your download cache. Options->Cache Settings->Clear Download Cache. They were: Modified Mad City-Revamped bzflag3.norang.ca:5169; and Battle in John Galt's World 69.202.50.194:5156 I also periodically hav...

image files don't download
I have had this happen before, but only on a couple of Louman's maps. Tonight, I tried to play a couple of Mad City mods, and many of the image files wouldn't download. I removed the last lines on the Download Access file in my bzf documents folder, but it didn't make any difference. I was able to v...
