just tested the beta, it's much slower, very jerky. i hope thats because of internal debug code, and it's not just going the way of windows. IE - new release = slower, bigger & nore bugs!!! also i found a serious bug. on worlds with underwater sections you cant jump out, it thinks the surface of ...

there is no freeze when connecting to servers, sometimes the server is too busy to respond. when this happens the request will eventually time-out and you can search for servers again. i think the same problem is responsible for the ocasional error while trying to download the world-database (map) w...

(replacing it with a cheap realtek card fixed it) Btw. i trust you dont actually mean you ...

well this makes interesting reading. http://www.xfree86.org/cvs/changes.html new version (4.3) releases at the end of the month. maybe somebody who can be bothered setting up for a CVS compile can test the beta? i think it's a memory related problem, something leaking/not being de-allocated? the sma...

not many cards in your system then  o.k. i did a very interesting test, i ran flag in a window, while playing mp3's with XMMS. that denied any audio access to the flag - so it's NOT the audio. more interesting is that when it crashed (as it does) :( the MP3's kept playing, but the spectrum-...

sorry for adding confusion! :) i have 2 seperate problems. first - graphics are jumpy, but ONLY in 'g0' second - the infamous 'freeze' problem (all versions) i guess it's not the video drivers, monster-fusion dont use Nvidia drivers. o.k. that did nothing for the problem :(

i wonder if a special version should be compiled that creates a VERY detailed tracking log?

another problem with 'g0' is graphics not being smooth, but that effects win versions too.
also, i think it's totally unrelated to the crashes.

i come from a land far-far-away! :)

(u.k.)

these systems are dirt-cheap now, check e-bay and do a search for 'sgi'

if you are lucky you can get a indigo2 IMPACT with R10000 cpu for under $100

unfortunatly R10000 based units are like gold dust in europe, but there are lots in the u.s.

have fun.
