Hey all, don't know if anyone here still remembers me as I haven't played in many many months. I just wanted to briefly come out of lurking today to comment on how little this conversation has changed over the years. It's always a matter of the old code base not having been designed for a game with ...

(First post in these forums in half a year) Woah, feedback. Not just that, but positive feedback. Thanks. So it looks like you're using the second stick to scale the output of the first one, for boosts and the like? Sounds hard to control. :) I remember one time I modified something so that I could...

Purple Panzer, I was skeptical when I clicked the thread, but this is the greatest idea I've heard in a while. I love it! I don't know a lot about RSS feeds, but viewing them in bzflag as a part of the map sounds awesome. Webcams would make excellent backgrounds, and live scoreboards in a stadium ma...

The problem's your keyboard. What key have you bound to jump? When I played with the keyboard, I had the number pad 0 key set to jump, so I could control my movement with one hand. This worked fine on my regular keyboard, but on almost every other one I tried I couldn't turn and jump in one directio...

When you see a GM that's close enough to target you, make sure you're ready to move in the circular path at any time. You don't need to keep driving the entire time - you can stand still up until the point that he fires. As torture2m said, you can slowly spiral in, until you're within the GM's minim...

About current shield behavior: If you're shot only once by Geno, do your teammates die? Are you supposed to die due to the geno effect, even though the bullet itself can't kill you? As a possible alternative to the MQ counter, how about this: Shield is fully immune to geno bullets - no one on the ta...

Re: Local serner log ins never locked out of server
The reason is that there is absoltuely no lag and no bandwidth usage (in the network the usage is superfluous: 100mb? 25ft away?) Actually, since bandwidth per player increases depending on the number of players involved, additional local connections do contribute a cost. Imagine the bandwidth used...

ah yes forgot about the bullets... (you can tell i usually play non-flag servers right?? :D) yeah, i guess u can tell aggression from the movement patterns, but you'd have to really be watching for it. and they could just come up to you calm as ever, cuz they kno they look like a teammie, and shoot...

I think that MQ should be used more on no-radar servers. well, i think that would make mq invincible, unless you identified the person. because the only other way to tell a mq tank (besides ident.ing) is w/ the radar. Don't forget that bullet color remains unchanged. Also, it's pretty easy to read ...

I always thought MQ was one of the most underpowered flags, since so many players use the radar. I don't often like what I hear when people discuss geno modifications, but I think this is a genuinely good idea and makes a lot of sense in BZFlag's wacky world of flying tanks and burrowed turrets. I w...

Re: google vision?
I had lazer and I put myself in google vision. google vision? probably just a typo, I know. had to bring it up. That would make for an interesting visor mode. Get GM, then enter a search criteria and get back a prioritized list of appropriate targets. Or just hit the I'm Feeling Invincible key to h...

This is analogous to the master ban list, correct? I assume a player would not be blacklisted/banned/whatever unless he is incredibly problematic across many servers. What mechanisms will servers have to exert their own discretion over the defaults handed over from the central system? Will a banned ...

What if I want to modify my client (like I do) and don't want it to be in BZFlag? Actually, you can still modify your client without it being in BZFlag. It just means you won't be able to take your modified client online, because quite frankly, the only real reason you would do that is to cheat. Wh...

/report is for cheaters. My biggest problem with report is that it forces you to be very terse - I sometimes can't even finish a full sentence. I get the feeling that I'd have to use IM shorthand to be able to communicate anything important in any detail. Question: Is the text transmition limit onl...

H0ley it dosn't take any more CPU then the client does when it's not drawing, aka nothing. You people that say the server can't do hit detection have no clue what your talking about. Nearly every net game in the world other then bzflag has an athortive server state. No it won't add lag, no it won't...

I started playing with the keyboard. Back then, I set my numpad 0 to jump so I could control my tank's movement with one hand. (On many keyboards, this meant that I couldn't jump while holding the left or right arrow.) My left hand covered Enter to fire and Space to drop flag. I had an acceleration ...
