Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

NEGATIVE SCORE -- Spawn zones or other restrictions? I'm hearing complaints about 20-20 flag new behavior. Apparently, if you fail to shoot anyone, you lose 20 score points. Fine with me, I've never really cared about score. Scores are mostly ego hits. I was thinking that instead a negative score co...

Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

This is a sign it's hollow. And if it's hollow a little it can be exploited! Yesterday I freed a rf in that block. I did geno someone with it first, though, from relative safety inside the block. It might be possible to get normal bullets into that spot but not predictably. I noticed an interesting ...

Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

I note that this morning (19 Nov 2023) the Apoc server seems to be reverted so that the new bridge is completely gone. I also liked Agatha's idea about having the teleporters convert ordinary shots fired into them to PZ shots and PZ shots fired into them into ordinary shots. More conservative idea: ...

The neutral zones will not be invisible
Good idea! Good UX suggests there should be warning markings of some kind. Alternatively the zone could have a deadly physical barrier like scarwall.

Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

@Optic Delusion -- A shout out to thank you and your minions for the map reset celebration on Apocalypse earlier this year. I was surprised by the increased density of flags in the previous map (especially the map with the skyscraper in back where the team flag could be left on a ledge). So many fla...

Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo

It's right there in the name. What is Euthanasia? What is D? UPDATE: KnottyMan apparently noticed a very minimal effect that it has. I won't post a spoiler but it doesn't seem to be something that would affect play. Earlier Post: What is Euthanasia? Typically, a mercy killing. In bzflag, this might...

Euthanacious D flag on Apoco

Maybe chatGPT knows.... Q: What does the Euthanacious D flag do in the game bzflag? AI: The 'euthanacious D' flag in BZFlag is a flag that gives you invincibility against all damage, a speed boost, and the ability to fly up to a certain height. However, you will be unable to pick up any flags while ...

Re: HOWTO compile bzflag from github source on XUbuntu 22.04

Tainn: A sentence like "I was curious about getting some isolation, without trying to fix the snap." probably would have been helpful. And the reason I want more isolation... is that I value my computer's privacy and prefer containerization to other options like reading and really understa...

HOWTO compile bzflag from github source on XUbuntu 22.04

There isn't a question here... just passing along some hard won tips from an evening of upgrading... XUbuntu 22.04 beta (early April 2022) had some issues for me: [*] Allejo's snap client (2.4.22) install but would fail to load runtime with mismatched library versions [*] apt install bzflag installs...
